It is not necessarily you (yourself) that opened or modified a file.
Some software tools (like e.g. some anti-virus programs) have the nasty habit of doing that for you ... ;-)

Re: coflicts when real and sort order seems to be canged

I am not sure what is, or is not, being logged in those cases. Irrespective of logging: the sync is not automatically performed by FFS the next time the target is/becomes on line. However, you could use RTS for that purpose: The function of RealTimeSync is to execute a command line ... when a direct...

Re: coflicts when real and sort order seems to be canged

Order is only relevant if there are dependencies between sync locations, forming an overlap. Overlaps must be avoided, because they create potential sync conflicts or ambiguities. An...

Re: coflicts when real and sort order seems to be canged

(I re-used you location notation, although the combination of drive-letters and forward slashes appears strange or simply incorrect to me) The fact that you first list C://folder/folder -> D://folder/folder as your first folder pair AND then D:// -> P:// as your second folder pair does not mean that...

By now, you should have understood that it is not FFS, but rather Linux that is not capable of doing what you want.

Re: Sync from encrypted usb to pc folder

It depends on what type of encryption is applied. As FreeFileSync (FFS) works at file-level, if your encryption is also at file-level, FFS will gladly sync files in their encrypted form. Similarly, if you can mount your encrypted drive or folder(s) as a seemingly unencrypted drive or folder (some en...

Re: Unable to access network shares in Linux

In Windows, next to typing \\nas\share1 in the FFS location window, you can also drag a folder from e.g. Windows (File) Explorer and drop it into the FFS left or right location window. I believe on a MAC you can do the same by dragging a folder from Finder and drop it into the FFS left or right loca...

Re: Google Drive Comparison

Theoretically, files can have an identical checksum and still differ in content.
That is however very, very unlikely, and, as explained in said threads, not the reason why FFS does not use hashes.

Re: Google Drive Comparison

For good reasons, FreeFileSync (FFS) does not use hashes (as discussed in this forum in multiple threads).
Instead, FFS uses a plain bit-by-bit comparison.

Re: Folder pairs problem

The problem seems to be that you created an overlap between your two folder pairs. Your first right location is D:\ , your second one D:\Photos . But D:\Photos is obviously part of D:\ , so there is your overlap. I would expect FreeFileSync (FFS) gave you a warning to that extent. There are (at leas...

There is no reason to expect that the FFS estimate would be more accurate than what e.g. Windows (File) Explorer predicts.

Re: Include filter excludes non filtered files from deletion on right

Correct. Any Excluded or not Included files and folders are simply not considered for any sync actions. The deletion of all not \202?\ folders and their content from your backup seems a one-time action and should be not too hard to do manually. If you want, you could also use FFS: Leave your Include...

Re: Content check in the case of file corruption - keep both good/bad files?

You could consider using Versioning. That will retain all files deleted or overwritten (updated) by FFS, in a self-selected location, for as many versions as you select and for as long as you select.
