When you say "the computer crashes" does that mean you must then power off or reboot the computer to get it to function normally again? Or do you mean that FreeFileSync 11.26 crashes and never is available to use?

How do you run FreeFileSync 11.26? I guess you use a menu entry. Can you run the program in a terminal window? Depending on how you installed the program, it could be in one of multiple places. /opt/FreeFileSync/ would be a good place to look. The reason I want you to run 11.26 from a terminal window is we would be able to see additional output which could indicate the problem.

You could search your main program menu for "Terminal" or GNOME Terminal or KTerm or xterm or another terminal emulator program. People might call such a big, black window with text a "command prompt."

Inside such a terminal window, you can type commands to run. We want to cd (change directory) to the path that you showed us earlier in your file manager. The dollar sign here indicates the prompt, and you should type the commands that on the same line as the dollar sign. Do not type the dollar sign.

So this code block shows two separate commands. The first changes directory to /opt/FreeFileSync, and the second command tries to run FreeFileSync. I removed my proposed solution because there is not enough information about problem:
- run: lsb_release -a
- publish the version of QT you use
- run: lxqt-config-monitor
- publish the contents of the launcher (.desktop) or shortcut icon for launching LXQt-config-monitor

PS: Qt is a nightmare and you are not the first to have such problems with Qt environments. And using an LTS doesn't mean that the problem with Qt goes away. And LXQt is based on Qt, so it's not problem-free.
I think the problem is with your environment, not with FFS, so my proposal is that you do your FFS tests with Ubuntu Mate Desktop, which is a low-power environment, similar to the one you use and 100% compatible with FFS. So then (& I know nothing of Linux), I would look at the "lxqt-config-monitor" end of things (of which I'd have no clue).

Does Linux have a "safe mode" of booting or are you able to use a different "windows manager" (no idea what I'm saying here ;-)) kind of thing?

I have owned this notebook for many years, and I always had the FFS installed for the various LUBUNTU versions up to the last 20.04.05 before the upgrade or the clean new installation on the current NEW "LUBUNTU 22.04.1 Jammy Jellyfish" version and it had always worked perfectly without any problems and on the same Toshiba notebook as now.

LXDE was the standard desktop environment in Lubuntu, an Ubuntu derivative which received official endorsement in 2011, up to and including Lubuntu 18.04 LTS (Lubuntu switched to LXQt starting Lubuntu 18.10).
the problem is that ltqr is no longer oriented to PCs with few resources, like yours, but to modern PCs, which makes it not feasible to use lubuntu 22.04 and for this reason I have suggested several times that you downgrade, up to 18.04, which was the last version LXDE used

About syslog:
According to the information provided in the pdf file, your PC have a problem with its graphics card and sddm. Perhaps this new version of lubuntu has made changes to the video driver or to sddm. I'm not 100% sure

Possible solutions:
- run:

sudo journalctl -b -1 | grep sddm
sudo apt-file list sddm


and if there are errors try this solution

- You can also try disabling the video driver or booting in recover mode and try FFS in this mode

To close this issue, FFS works normally on Lubuntu 22.04. Maybe this will be useful to another user who uses this distro.
