Is further sync processing stopped?
Or retry?
Or going one, but leaving tmp-files?
Etc.
What happens If fail-save copy fails?

I think my description (and header) needs clearification?
As far as I understand "Fail-save copy" helps for special (hopefully rare) situations
when something terrible happens and the copy of a file could not carried out.
My question is:
If FFS is still alive, what does it do then?
- Is further processing stopped?
- Retried?
- Going on with next file, leaving tmp-files and reporting the incident?
I haven't found anything about that.

Fail-safe file copy & VerifyCopiedFiles mentioned:

(Former default, latter not. Wouldn't expect an issue there, but...)
in conclusion: Some files will be more than 5 times slower when using FFS synchronization across disks.

(Didn't mention what "some files" might have been. Maybe they were multiple thousands of thumbnail's of his .mp4 files ;-).)

Depends on what causes the failure

You're making it exciting... :)
What behaviour of FFS is caused by what situation then?
