Hello. I got acquainted with your FreeFileSync program the other day. I really liked it and decided to use it to synchronize files on my computer.

I have two hard drives for files. The first one contains the working files. On the second one is their backup (mirror) copy. I made a mirror copy using your program. I was very impressed with the speed of copying files from one disk to another!

In my work, I often have to move files on my work disk (source disk) between directories. And it is very convenient that your program allows you to track the moved files and move them accordingly also on the target disk, so that they do not need to be deleted and copied again to other directories on the target disk. But I couldn't figure out how to set up this feature. This is not described in the documentation (help) on the website. The settings that I couldn't figure out are highlighted in the screenshot with a red rectangle.

Could you describe in more detail in the program documentation the synchronization settings using the specified buttons when using the database file?

Checkmarking "Use database file to detect changes" is all you need to do to detect moved or renamed items.

The icons in your red box are unrelated to the detection of moved or renamed items, and just indicate the Actions FFS will take for the different cases.
Going over the six icons in your red box:
• Create-Left: if an item is Created on the Left, the new item will be copied to the right
• Create-Right: if an item is Created on the Right, the right-side item will be deleted
• Update-Left: if a Left-side item is Updated/modified, the right-side item will be updated
• Update-Right: if a Right-side item is Updated/modified, the right-side item will be updated
• Delete-Left: if a Left-side item is Deleted, the right-side item will be deleted
• Delete-Right: if a Right-side item is Deleted, the left-side item will be copied to the right.

These are simply the rules for a Mirror sync.
Note that the "is" in "is created", "is update/modified" and "is deleted" here means "since the last sync".
Hoovering your mouse over any of the six icons should give you text-tips.

Thank you for your quick and complete reply.
Now everything is clear. It was impossible to understand how the synchronization was configured without your help.

Is it possible to do the mirror function provided that when deleting a file from the left side, it is not deleted from the right side. Because this is considered the most important function in backup.
