I am a brand user and just tried to use real time sync but quickly learned that I needed to enter a "command line" to make it work. I am not familiar with this so what command line should I use?
source: drive H
Target: drive G
Location of program: "C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\RealTimeSync.exe"

Please tell me what my command line should be. THANKS in advance

I did print the manual off earlier and that prompted my forum question. I have no idea what ffs_batch and a dozen other terms, let alone how they apply to me. Is the info I gave in my post enough information to give me a command line?

I was wondering if anyone will help me. Everyone was new at one time and I did my due diligence, printing out and reading the available information. This is simply way over my head. I have not been lazy or have no respect for others' time. This is over my head and I just need a little help. Thank you for your consideration.

Despite your alleged due diligence, apparently you did not watch
the tutorials, particularly the ones on batch jobs and RealTimeSync.

Wow, Plerry. Be nice. It costs nothing. Your "alleged" help should not be offered to newbies like me you obviously hold in contempt. I asked for help with respect for all here and stated what I had done so far. When your toxic demeanor is displayed, the entire forum suffers, not just me. There is never a reason to put others down with inflammatory statements. Please do us all a favor, help in good faith or move on. I hope your day improves.

If I would hold you in contempt, I would simply not have reacted.
But I did want to make you aware that your self-proclaimed due diligence may not have been as diligent as it could (and in my opinion should) have been, because you seem to have overlooked a very obvious source of information: the tutorials.
And (I feel) I have been nice, because I took the time and effort to point you in the right direction.

RTS does not seem to work as advertised for me also. That means the tutorials need to be better. And this is the help forum. Not the put down people with questions forum.
https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=realtimesync did not fix my problem. The video tutorials did not fix my problem, so I posted something, and like @disbeach would appreciate actual help. If you can't provide it, admitting so is not a sin.

The info provided is not enough. You need the location of the FFS batch job file and you pass that as a parameter to the FFS executable. If you don't understand the basics of command line, its utilities, and syntax, then you need to first learn the fundamentals before learning implementation. The tutorials work fine, you just lack the required knowledge to utilize them. You can't learn how to play a song on the guitar without first learning how to strum.

@xCSxXenon
I understand how to use the command line just fine on many platforms, thank you, and I build enterprise applications on my spare time. I read the tutorials. And you are right about one thing. If I lack the knowledge to get something done, I have enough humility to accept it, look for answers and sometimes turn to my peers who might know more than I do. I don't go around being a jerk and treating people as if they had no brains.

@xCSxXenon and myself may be newbies here, but certainly not to tech forums. There are always a few jerks who troll, insult, not help. Most do help and get a satisfaction from helping others get up to speed. I have no idea about what this is all about. Some frustrated and angry people may feel powerless and take pot shots at others, as long as it is anonymous. Bullies are the same. We gave as much information as we could, we even donated to further develop the product. There is a community here at the forums, and I plan to "hang" with the good guys. When I learn how to configure, I'll pass it along. No brainer.

Hello
I am afarid my opinion is that disbeach and rrafiringa are right.
I have been using freefileSync for a long time to sychronize a limited batch of important files on 3 computers interconnected on an ethermet local network.
I had no problem to select the files to be synchronized but I must run "on purpose" a synchronizing job to get the synchronizition effectively done.
I hoped RTS would do the job automatically, copying the modifications from one computer to the other as soon as the modification took place.
But I am also unable to solve this commandline job!
I have tried to copy the FFS relevant file in the RTS command line as I hoped it would include all the parameters to make this FFS job automatic but Copying does not work and I cannot find a way to import it.

I would be very gratefull if you could suggest a typically commandline for following job to be done on the computer carrying the D: Drive:

Synchronise source >\\DELL-Computer\Navette\helpFiles with Target> D:\Navette\helpfiles

Best regards

If you click and drag a ffs_batch configuration file onto the RTS window, it will autofill the monitored directories and command line options. Consider adding a manual exit code to the end of the command line
