Hi,
I wonder if anyone as ever tried to sync files containing bunches of photos named like for example Photo-1.jpg, Photo-2.jpg etc ... Photo-xx.jpg.
If by any chance you remove one photo say Photo-1 and resort the photos by the number because it is your new set it becomes impossible to make for example a mirror sync or annythingelse . You think that comparing the files by the content will do, but it is wrong. The software does not go into such a comparison with photos.
I do not expand all the problems/cases I was faced with and at last I ended up making a mirror sync directly by Copy Paste without the software. This is a disappointment.
Otherwise the software is a rocket for other use.

Not clear what you mean. Do you re-number your photo's such that, per your example Photo-2 now becomes Photo-1, Photo-3 becomes Photo-2, etc?
If you would perform such a renaming, you can still run a mirror-sync afterwards, but almost all files at the target will then get deleted and the renamed files copied over from the source again.
This, unless you checkmarked "Detect Moved Files" in the synchronization settings (provided a system with stable file-IDs).

The FFS software will perfectly fine compare the file-size and/or date, or the content of photo-files. However, FFS is not a duplicate finder, and only compares the file-size and/or date or content of identically named files (in identical folder-tree positions relative to the FFS left and right base location). FFS does not compare differently named files. So, if you did rename files, comparison will not work.

Without using "Detect Moved Files" , running an FFS Mirror sync in your (assumed) use-case will do pretty much the same as a direct Copy-Paste (only a bit slower)
But, using the cited "Detect Moved Files" option may be the way to go for you.

Hello Plerry,
Thanks so much for your hint and clarifications. You opened a new door on my comprehension of synchronizing files.
I had read about Detect Moved Files in the Help section but because of all the restrictions/requirements I was not sure it was useful or would work.
I had used the Two Way method without success, hence my post to give my experience on syncing.
Now I did a trial with a simulation of reordering files, erasing etc ... (sorry not "resort" my mistake for sorting again !!) after your advice and it worked !!. I'll be more alert next time when syncing my files and not being shy to use Detected Move Files.
Thanks so much for your expertise.
