Here is my proposed new User Interface. I understand that it is a radical
change but I do feel that it allows for easier understanding as to what part

It synced the settinsg from the default location in which they are kept by
lightroom to a folder in my documents area - That worked fine - First Folder
Pair

The second FP was to sync all of my Documents folder to my external HDD and it

It's syncing settinsg from their default location to a location in documents
and then the next folder pair syncs all my documents onto my external drive.

So it basically does one folder pair after another?

Also, maybe you could add a disable button to folder pairs so you can toggle a
pair on or off temporarily. - Just a little extra feature that some users may
find helpful at times.

I am aiming to set up FFS to work as a backup system for a family member.

I set the left hand side to C:\Users\Wendy

and the right side to E:\Wendy Backups

We only want 4 folders from the Users folder to be backed up or mirrored

I have just come back to this topic. I'm sorry but I am getting a bit confused
by this thread and I am in need of getting this sorted so we can get a backup
completed.

All I want to do make a backup of everything located in the users "User"
folder. In my case it is the "Mandy" folder.

Sorry for the long delay in replying, The full path of the Music folder that
is part of the backup is:

C:\Users\Mandy\My Music

They must be important as "Music" is one of the folders having the error

How do you enable that then?

It's strange,

both systems are running the same version of Windows 7 and both were
completely setup by myself and configured in the same way which is why it's
confusing me. My previous backup program managed to copy these directories
perfectly on my own and my mum's systems.

You know much more about this than I do but why does it work on my system but
doesn;t on my mum's system?

But the error says that it is failing to CREATE a new folder on the
destination drive!

and the fact that when I run a similar backup but on my own system, it runs
perfectly!

It's failing on stuff like attempting to copy the Windows "Music" folder and
others for example.

Just tried running FFS again on that PC and ignoring the error I last posted
and it keeps the syncing process going but now and again it pops up an error
like the one last posted saying it had an error creating a new directory.

Any idea why it keeps failing making these new directories?

Firstly Happy New Year and secondly it works perfectly now. Just have to add
it as a startup item!

The batch file I made runs perfectly but I wrote the batch file as this:

D:\Neil\Documents\Small Single Programs\FreeFileSync\64 Bit\RealtimeSync.exe

saved as batch.bat and when run, it doesn;t open RTS in the ...

Ok, but what is a batch file? I only have a config file exported by FFS as
normal?

I have tried importing my exported FFS gui settings file into RealTimeSync but
it's only looking for a .ffs_real or .ffs_batch?

Just a quick reply from myself to say that this morning, I completed a backup
of my enter User folder to my external drive using FFS and it worked perfectly
and I applaud you for a fantastic application and I'll be reccomending it to
many people!

Ok, SO I can use that text file to check what the latest version number is but
if you amke a 64 bit version will the file be called
FreeFileSync_v{ver}_win64.zip ?

checks to see if a new version of any application is available and if so then
it will auto download the installer for you. I wish to add FreeFileSync to my
Ketarin Config and yes FFS is listed in the db of settings ...
