I did some fooling around yesterday and today, based on a hunch triggered by a comment made on the Linux Mint forums, I think I got this fixed.
Yesterday, after making a Timeshift snapshot (yeah, I'm a coward...and proud of it), I went into the Menu and removed FFS. I then checked .config in /home ...

Re: Lost ~/.config/FreeFileSync in Linux Mint 21.1
Thanks for replying. I'm not sure what you mean by jobs. If you mean batch jobs, then no. Same for Taks / Crom jobs. I manually start and run FFS whenever I need to update my backups.

Re: Lost ~/.config/FreeFileSync in Linux Mint 21.1
Flathub isn't an official version so you'll likely need to contact whoever maintains that package
You can try searching the entire volume for that file pretty quickly with Terminal
OK, I'm running the official version and the globalsettings.xml has gone missing again! Again, how the big fat ...

Re: Lost ~/.config/FreeFileSync in Linux Mint 21.1
Thanks!
I had already tried searching the entire volume but that had yielded bupkis, squat, nada, nein, zilch, and zip and time I will never see again (eye-roll).

Lost ~/.config/FreeFileSync in Linux Mint 21.1
I was running an update the other day in Linux Mint 21.1 when I noticed FFS wasn't verifying the file transfers. I looked for globalsettings.xml in ~/.config/FreeFileSync and couldn't even find ~/.config/FreeFileSync, let alone globalsettings.xml.

Re: File "modified" date/time changed
I'm having the same problem in Linux Mint. I want to use FreeFileSync (FFS) to sync between two computers using backup drives. When I backup data to a backup drive on Computer 1, the time and date of the file that gets written to the backup drive is the time and date of the backup. Normally, this ...

I FINALLY got FreeFileSync (FFS) to work after months of trying ( :D :D :D doing happy dance :D :D :D :D )! Woohoo!

Re: Can't Get FFS to Mirror a Data Drive
Your text and pictures contain inconsistent, and therefore confusing, data. Setting up a mirror is easy, and you have been able to do it already. I read another poster that had the same core usage problem, I don't recall the resolution of that though. Sounds like you have a very one-off issue at ...

Re: Can't Get FFS to Mirror a Data Drive
I needed to get a backup going so I reformatted the drive (ext4) and named it Laptop 1 BU 1, then just copied the contents of Data1 to Laptop 1 BU 1.

EXT4 to NTFS
Can FFS on a Linux machine copy files from an EXT4 drive to an NTFS drive, such as when using mirror copy or two way copy? Would the same apply when using the Linux machine to move files from an NTFS drive to an EXT4 drive?

Re: Synchronize - does it verify copied files?
Offically, there is no way to verify a file has copied correctly but there is an unofficial "hack". Just follow the below steps:
1. Go to AppData in the User folder.
2. Open the Roaming folder.
3. Open the FreeFileSync folder.
4. Click on GlobalSettings.xml

Thank you Lady Fitzgerald for your reply.
