Hi,

(FreeFileSync v13.7)

I'm not sure whether this is just the way that NTFS/Windows file-handling works or not...

I rename a directory containing A LOT of data (>150GB), when I then synchronise it to my external drive, rather than simply renaming the relevant directory, it deletes said directory ...

Most likely. The curious thing was that it only auto-updated about half of my config files. Presumably the other ones didn't have the setting/attribute that needed to be updated?

I suspect the only difference in the config files, is that some (all?) of the ones that were updated had ...

@xCSxXenon - when I ran the new version, it highlighted 22 FFS config-files and changed/updated. I hadn't changed, or even loaded, any of these config files.

Just a minor one, I just noticed that after running the latest FFS (12.3) for the first time, about 22 out of my total of 39 .ffs_gui files have been updated/changed automatically.

What changes were made?

I often rename files, often quite large (>10GB) files, and when I used FFS to sync to my other drives, rather than performing a rename, it deletes the old file and copies the renamed file across. The seems rather wasteful and would certainly be putting a bit of extra strain on my SSDs...

A very minor suggested change:

In the "Synchronising..." window, the "When finished:" drop-down should probably have default text of "Do nothing", rather than being blank. ""Do nothing" should probably be added as a drop-down option too...

I've run across this a few times and today, after doing a raft of changes to filter settings, I accidentally clicked on one of the other configurations and lost all of my changes.

Is it possible to include a confimation to prevent the loss of unsaved changes?

I've finally figured out what happened...

If the "Auto-close" option is ticked/checked on the "Completed successfully" window, the "Synchronisation finished" sound doesn't play.

I'm not sure if this is the way it's meant to behave, but I think it would be better if it did play the sound upon ...

Here's a weird one: it played fine in the settings window, but not when using ('manual' mode - not batch).

So I went into Options and clicked the 'Default' button (at the lower left of the window), then reselected the .wav file for both Comparison Finished and Synchronisation Finished and lo ...

<bump> Still an issue (for me) with FFS 10.20...

Is anyone else having a problem with this?

This is a strange one.

In Options, I have both "Comparison finished" and "Synchronisation finished" set to play the "notify.wav" sound, but the audio only plays when the comparison is finished. There is no audio notification when synchronisation completes.
