Hi to all,
I'm new to this forum, two days ago on updating to version 13.9 I've seen that the Italian translation is missing, then I've translated it, I attach here the complete "language.zip" and "italian.lng" everyone can use "as You want"!
Pay attention ! These translation work ONLY on version 13.9 (for now).
If anyone find issues or errors please tell me more, I've tested the translation in the last two days, and work fine but "one never knows".
Sincerely
Abele

Unfortunately I don't have experience on mac, usually in windows the file .lng is located inside to .zip file (that I have put in my post), the zip file path in windows is :"C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\Resources" .
Sorry, but for mac to be sure You have to find solution in others side, such others mac users.

Hi Abele,
your translation looks good for the most part. Unfortunately you've started from scratch, which means the knowledge included in the old translation is lost, and new errors are introduced.
Can you consolidate your changes using the old italian version as a baseline? (attached)

Hi Abele,
I found the way: go in Applications folder - right click on FreeFileSync and click on "Show Package Contents" - open "Contents" folder - open "Resources" folder - inside you find the zipped file "Languages" - delete it and replace it with the new one.
Thanks a lot! Greetings from Italy

I'd suggest you use a tool like WinMerge that shows the differences between both versions at a glance.
There are tons of differences, unsurprisingly. A lot of them seem stylistically, but there are errors due to not knowing the context, e.g.
is talking about the process threads when an executable is running, not "comments".
For technical terms it is advised to look up the official translation that Microsoft uses: Microsoft UI String Search
Hopefully these kinds of problem become clear when comparing with the old version.
After that just send me the updated lng file via email! Thank you!

I've seen the old translation file, and at the first look does I've understanding that I've to analyze in deep, example in this old file ( and in the mine ) have find an hight numbers of errors, You consider I've made the first translation in 24h, but now I think I'm ready on the day 20 current month. In this time I think to fuse both translations and made right adjust. I want work similary to professional mode to satisfing the users and You!
I want You see what i do, under I put a schemas I 've made to right understanding. If You read this and consider good I go on this way, otherwise try to change approach.
------------begin schemas--------------
hot terms:
folder(s) > cartella(e)
directory/directories > directory
tread > tread*
item > elemento**
Symlink > collegamento simbolico***
symbolic link > collegamento simbolico***
*this term is not translated, don't exist any real (usable) correspondence in Italian on that is meant
into the software, the only term "usable" is "filo" but in Italian this mean wire cable electrical or of cotton etc. This is a technical term and is hard to understanding, then if the users search for incorrect term can't get the correct response, this can confuse the users.

**this term is translated in "italian-v13.8.lng" with:"oggetto" (object in English) in Italian can be partially done but not fully, instead "elemento/i"
is common used in "Windows Explorer" when is selected a file/s or folder/s.

***this term is translated in "italian-v13.8.lng" simply with:"collegamento" but in Italian this term means = "URL" or "WEBPAGE LINK" or "SHORTCUT". This is a technical term and is hard to deeply understand, then if the users search for incorrect term can't get the correct response, this can confuse the users.

This is all fine. "directory" and "tread" are not translated in Windows. "collegamento simbolico" is indeed the offical translation. "elemento" is closer to the original than "oggetto".hot terms:
folder(s) > cartella(e)
directory/directories > directory
tread > tread*
item > elemento**
Symlink > collegamento simbolico***
symbolic link > collegamento simbolico*** Abele, 13 Dec 2024, 23:28
