FreeFileSync Error

I have for several weeks tolerated a pop-up message which advises me that a file "does not contain a valid configuration" as it contains an unexpected file extension. The file listed is C:\Users\etc but when I search for the file it does not show even when I check show hidden files. It has become irritating since I can't get rid of it - even after reinstalling. Help please. I do find the app very useful and much easier than a backup app.
