Re: Operation timed out
The files were not locked. We simply mounted the share and started copying files. There is no antivirus on the Mac. The Mac is the client. The server is IBM proprietary, not Windows-based.

Re: Operation timed out
How come FFS proceeded to try subsequent files and the connection came back alive for them (only these two had errors (out of perhaps 100,000)? Coincidence I guess that they were avi files.

Re: Handling Apple libraries and running multiple FFS processes
I don't follow. Are you saying that while FFS is running, I can add more tasks to it? Because that's what I'm asking it to do, but it seems that once a task starts, it is limited to just that one task until it's done.

Handling Apple libraries and running multiple FFS processes
We would like to know if there are any caveats or special techniques needed when copying/updating iTunes, iMovie or iPhotos Libraries on an SMB file share (they were FFS’d from an APFS disk with Update)? If we wanted to update one library to another, should this work if we run Update -> ? Is there ...

FFS ignores a file that needs syncing
I have an avi file in the source and it exists in the destination, but in the destination, its size is 0, so I would expect FFS to think it needs to copy it, but the program says it needs no action to be taken.
The file is HFoxP01_OP30_Train_04_49.avi

Why is FFS not following symlinks?
I am running FFS as admin and this is the output I get?
I have follow symlinks set and as you can see in the comparison, it's looking the symlink only, not to where it points.
Version 12.1 under Windows 10.

Re: ENOENT: No such file or directory
I figured it out. All the “missing” files have at least one accented character in their filename. There must be some mapping translation error in the communication between the Mac and the SMB share.

Re: ENOENT: No such file or directory
Unless more files have disappeared, I’d expect it to show no differences. (Remember I don’t see these files in either the source or the destination.) From my perspective, the initial preparation for the update found these files in the source. When it came time to actually copy them, something had ...

We ran into this again and were able to open files on the target. This implies the target files aren’t corrupt.

The destination is a mapped drive, but the source is a regular mounted drive. Why would the destination impact what FFS sees in the source?

Cannot write modification time
For some files I am getting a warning that FFS 11.27 can’t write the modification time of a file to a file share because the access is denied. Of course, that isn’t case, it just created this file and perfectly well has rights to it. This was also with FFS run as admin.

I launched FFS 11.27 as admin, yet it wanted to copy a shortcut as a shortcut and for a junction point, it claimed falsely that the path could not be found.

Re: Cannot move file
It’s not just this one file, but possibly a few dozen. Also, it’s not clear why FFS is trying to replace them because I think the user is “updating”, and I don’t think these files have changed since when they were first written.

Can paths be preserved?
Let's say I want to copy multiple sources to a single destination, but I want to remember where those sources came from. It would be nice if FFS could recreate the absolute path of the source in the destination.
For example, if I want to copy

I have a file share with numerous folders named _YU6L1~X (where do they come from, anyway?). I tried to exclude them in FFS, but it didn't work. You can see the exclusion and the folder showing up in the destination here

It's also a very wrong statement and I apologize. The computer I was using has DLP software on it and that was tripping up the USB copying. Moved to another computer and now it's copying way better.

Re: Fluctuating performance
"It's more likely overhead operations that are invisible to you. "
If I had been using Explorer, this wouldn't be happening. There's a bug in these overhead operations.
The overall copy speed is about .14 MB/s.

Fluctuating performance
I see a lot of fluctuating performance in copying from a share (1Gb/s) to a USB 3 drive under Windows 10 x64, 1903 with 10.23. Sometimes, it can be pushing 70MB/s; other times, it seems stuck at 0. What might be causing this?
