Have you tried the "Verify Copied Files" option? You have to change the entry in GlobalSettings.xml from
<VerifyCopiedFiles Enabled="false"/>
to
<VerifyCopiedFiles Enabled="true"/>
The GlobalSettings.xml file should be located in your AppData\Roaming\FreeFileSync folder

Place your mouse over to highlight the item you want to delete, then press the "Delete" key on the keyboard (not the backspace key).

Re: Stable version
No major differences or added features that I can tell between 10.15 and 10.24, other than bugfixes.
I'm not sure about the donation versions as I've never used them. The free version has always been good enough for my usage.

Re: Stable version
10.24 is the version I've always stuck with. It is Stable for what I need, and it's the last version that keeps the older (and better imo) flat view.
I have tried testing all versions after that and always gone back to 10.24. I just find the old view much easier and quicker to work with.

Re: Issues with MPT on Android Smartphone
I think the .db files are for detecting what files have been moved around.
I've always disabled the "Detect Moved Files" option for all my MTP Devices, so it doesn't use the .db files. I haven't had any issues since. Syncs without freezing every time now.

Re: [Feature Request] VerifyCopiedFiles in configuration to override global setting
I would also like to see the "Verified Copied Files" added per config, instead of a global setting. It's handy to have on some drives and not others. I'd like to be able to just switch this on for certain drives and mtp devices.
Plus, I've never understood why this is a hidden option and we have ...

Many users have been asking the dev to do this for the last 7 months! Unfortunately, he isn't interested and won't even acknowledge how awful a lot of users think the new tree view is.

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
Being of a trusting nature, I tried 11.4 thinking that perhaps by some miracle it would be better than 10.24. After one screenfull of total confusion about what the changes were between left and right window panes, I am now switching back to 10.24. I gave it the benefit of a doubt, but doubt ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
Sorry to bring this up again, but just installed v11.3 and the layout still seems all over the place.

Re: New progress graph - what do you think?
Whichever design you decide on, I'd like to request the synchronisation window stays resized every time, and also when the program is reopened. Every time I do a sync, the progress window is too small and I have to expand it. Is it possible to have it remember the last height/width of the previous ...

Re: Preserving dates on copied subdirectories
I know this isn't specifically a FFS solution, but whenever I'm replacing a drive or just copying the whole contents of one, I don't use FFS. Instead, I prefer to copy the directories in the root of the drive using Robocopy with the /DCOPY:T /COPY:DAT switches to preserve all the original file and ...

Re: Random persistent corruption of files
How is it connected? Is it an external portable drive or a standard HDD/SSD connected via Dock or Enclosure? If so, it could be an issue with the dock/enclosure. I don't think this is a FFS issue, as it would be reported here a lot more if a widespread issue. If it's happening on multiple drives and ...

Just re-run the FreeFileSync installer and it will fix the issue. I had the same issue when I cloned my HDD over to an SSD. The installer will repair those files.

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
I don't think anyone here has acted entitled, just because they've been voicing their concerns about something. As I've said before, it is the Dev's software and he can do what he wants. But, a lot of posts here have been asking the Dev to reconsider and reinstate the old layout as an option, for ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
Nobody is crucifying the developer, it's his software at the end of the day. But, let's face facts here, most people are NOT happy with this change! As I said in a previous post, just look at the amount of views/posts on this thread compared to others! If that isn't a clear indication that people ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
The tree view may look nice (with more tweaking) and keep the visual clutter of filenames/paths to a minimum, but it's counterproductive, for me anyway. With the flat view I can easily see on each line exactly where every file is placed. Tree view means that if I scroll down and the folder is off ...

Re: Suggestion: manually rename one side
I'd also like to see a right click "rename" option, the same as the "delete" option. Sometimes renaming the folder from within FFS is just quicker than re-syncing a whole bunch of files. I know the "detect moved files" option is there, but it would still be quicker to just manually rename the folder ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
Please just reinstall the old flat format. I tried version 11 and I can't decipher its meaning. I am back to 10.24 now.
I'm also hoping we get an option to bring back the flat view. Not liking the tree view at all, to be honest. Tried both v10.25 and v11 and still not a fan of it. Flat view is ...

Re: Change layout
Completely agree, the new layout is way too busy for me. I've had to go back to v10.24.
Really needs to be an option to disable it. Let people use the original layout if they want. For me, it was much easier to compare what had been changed before.

Re: Disabling "Detect Moved Files" on MTP devices only
This issue has gotten even worse for me since v10.18 was released. Now even when I disable "Fail-safe file copy" it doesn't stop FFS from hanging at the end of Sync. Does anyone know a workaround for this issue? Or, should I go back to using an older version? I had v10.14 installed before and could ...

Re: Disabling "Detect Moved Files" on MTP devices only
I suspect the hang is triggered by the rename of sync_ffs_tmp => sync.ffs_db. In this case disabling fail-safe file copy can be used as a workaround: https://freefilesync.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6531

Re: Disabling "Detect Moved Files" on MTP devices only
You don't need to disable the option every time if you store your sync
as an *.ffs_gui (or *.ffs_batch) file and run that sync.
Thanks, I'll have to look into creating batch files a little more. I wasn't sure if those also included individual settings too? Good feature to have for different ...

Disabling "Detect Moved Files" on MTP devices only
Hi,
Just wondering if there is any way to disable "Detect Moved Files" on MTP devices only?
Detect moved files works great when I'm syncing between different drives, but when I'm trying to sync my Android device to my PC, it just freezes (not responding) for about 5-10 minutes on creating the sync ...
