Re: Some files in a batch run don't sync

As stated before , you could consider to use Versioning. Then files that are deleted or overwritten by your sync are moved to an arbitrary, user specified location, where you can retain as many previous versions as you select for as long as you select. No dependency on Recycle Bins or the availabili...

Re: Copieing new files with memory of copied files
It seems using a Mirror sync variant, with the use of a database ("Use database to detect changes") should do the job you want. See here.
Specify your "source" folder as your left base location, and your "destination" folder as your right base location.

More correctly:
RTS does not monitor specified directories, but instructs the OS to do so.
But given TS's reaction, it seems she/he (still?) did not to read the RTS Manual page.

Re: How to create a two way sync with subfolders on different paths
In your post, you use the drive letter D for both your USB drives. I will assume the 2nd one is named E:\ instead of D:\. Also note you use forward slashes (/) instead of backslashes (\), which is strange when using drive-letters. It seems you should specify your left base location as D:\Folder1\Cus...

Re: How often do you do the directory comparison?
RealTimeSync (RTS) does not compare directories.
The RTS Manual page explains how RTS works.
The default value of 10 seconds you refer to is the Idle time.

Re: 1 new win 10 machine wont write files to nas
Because you can copy OK in File Explorer to your NAS, it seems you are running a *.ffs_batch sync job launched by the Task Scheduler or by RTS which is in turn launched by the Task Scheduler. Note that tasks launched by Task Scheduler by default run as the System user, which almost certainly has no ...

Based on the fact that only D-drive folders are involved in your sync, it seems you would get the error reported in the topic title during updating the installation of FreeFileSync (FFS), and not while running a FFS sync . And that you mistyped the location "C:\Program Files\FreeFreeSybc\H"...

If the warning you get relates to the RecycleBin not being available for your SD card, you can change your Delete and Overwrite setting from RecycleBin to Permanent for that sync.

@doc_farras
It is presently not possible to do this automatically in FFS. And I don't expect this anytime soon in the future, because it is not really a synchronization related action.

Re: different contents in folder pair but still says no files to sync
What is the file-name (or -extension)?
Perhaps the file is in the FFS default Exclude Filter list, because there is normally no need to sync such files.
Or perhaps it is a FFS (system) file (e.g. a *.ffs_db file), that should not be synced in the first place.

For files shown in your picture (some of the 78 files that FFS intends to update left=>right) it seems the size is identical left vs right. Re: The difference in FFS' behaviour when there's a database file (sync.ffs_lock) vs When there's not.
In your local attempt, you apparently sync C:\Users with some other location. Be aware, that users, and (as far as I know) even users with administrator-rights, do by default not have write access to C:\Users ; only to C:\Users\[UserA] , where [UserA] is the home folder of the logged-in user. If you...

You are mixing up two things: • Locking folders involved in the sync by sync.ffs_lock files, as configured via the LockDirectoriesDuringSync flag and described in the Expert Settings . • The use of a database for TwoWay syncs and for detecting moved, renamed and deleted files; as stored in sync.ffs_...

You are allowed to recommend anything you like.
But it is not realistic to assume Zenju will add FAQ items in support of unofficial distributions of his software, that are possibly even in conflict with the distribution conditions.

Re: Unexpected issues with sync.ffs_db files
I don't know Gdrive in detail, but several cloud storage services retain previous versions of any files that get updated. And obviously, FFS updates the Gdrive-side *.ffs_db file ate the end of each sync.
