Re: Temporarily disable Filter (F7)

The simplest way would be to have a "full" sync configuration saved as a *.ffs_gui file. If you want to make (temporary) changes to that configuration, simply do so, eg. by deleting entries in your Include- and/or Exclude-Filter rules. Just make sure not to save any of those changes (at le...

Re: Sync to encryped folder to then sync to the cloud

@xCSxXenon BoxCryptor used to work (and I suppose still does) work with encryption at file level. Therefore it is a near ideal companion to FreeFileSync, which also works at file-level. The free version encrypts the file-content, but not the file-name; the paid version also is able to encrypt the fi...

Re: Sync to encryped folder to then sync to the cloud

A couple of years ago I used BoxCryptor for that purpose.
They still exist, and there is even a free version (for personal use).
Check them out.
At least then, it worked perfectly together with FreeFileSync.

Re: Italian translation

Your case (Document i ) seems to state that the (left) folder Documenti does not yet exist, and that FFS will automatically create it for you. You have selected a Mirror sync (Specchio), which is always left-to-right. But, Mirror-ing a from a non existing (and thus empty) folder makes no sense, and ...

Re: Batch job not running as scheduled task

You can start by checking if the Decay sync configuration works as expected by opening it in the FFS GUI, and running it from there. If that works OK, you know it is the scheduled task that is the problem and not the FFS sync configuration. > I can't see any other differences in the task schedule xm...

Re: FreeFileSync vs RAID 0 Mirroring

You still seem to be missing the difference between FreeFileSync ( FFS ) and RealTimeSync ( RTS ). I'll give it one last try: As described in the RTS manual page , RTS monitors one or more specified directories for changes. Upon detecting any changes in the monitored directory/directories (or any of...

Re: moved or deleted files keep coming back

From your description, it seems you are using the FreeFileSync (FFS) Two-way sync variant. If so, FFS should detect moved, renamed and deleted files, and treat those accordingly. See https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=synchronization-settings , particularly also the section "Detect Moved...

Re: FreeFileSync vs RAID 0 Mirroring

Obviously, your first command line will not work, because you tell FFS to open an RTS monitoring configuration (which it does not know what to do with or how to handle) instead of an FFS sync configuration. The second one should work OK, assuming c:\program files\freefilesync\realtimesync.ffs_batch ...

Re: Erroneous folder names after sync

This reads like a classical file and folder name abbreviation. In the Windows 3 and MS-DOS age, file names were restricted to the 8.3 naming format (max 8 characters, plus a max 3 charter file extension) Longer filenames would then be abbreviated to fit the 8.3 format, generally comprising a tilde (...

In FFS, run a Compare. Then, one by one, select a file you want to be synced, right-click on that file and choose to add that file to the Include Filter. Re: sync from A to B, then from parent folder of B to C

FreeFileSync (FFS) by default prevents you from simultaneously running two syncs if there is a full or partial overlap between the left and/or right base location (or its subdirectories) of both syncs. See the description for LockDirectoriesDuringSync . From your description, its seems there is such...

Re: Would it be possible to just compare based on file name, and completely ignore file content?

Well, FFS first needs to read the file names, dates and sizes, before it is able to apply its Include and/or Exclude Filter rules based on file name or path, file size and/or file age.
How else would FFS be able to filter on said criteria?

This may also be the result of using "Fail-safe file copy" (FFS GUI, Tools, Options, top left).
You can test, just for the sake of experiment.
But you may consider if it is wise to always turn this off; see e.g. here.

RTS always runs in the background. If RTS has detected a change in the monitored location(s), it will launch FFS with the *.ffs_batch sync configuration specified in that RTS instance. Whether the FFS sync launched by RTS runs in the background or opens in the FFS GUI, depends on what options you se...
