Re: Preserve Folder and File Dates
As long as FFS uses the basic file manipulation, it won't be possible. As Plerry stated, it's using the same process that a user would when manually syncing files. It is just able to create a "table of contents" of differences and can enact the copy/move/delete commands much faster. It wou...

Re: Pause Button is not working!
The two pictures do show the same file being transferred. I'm guess whatever you are syncing from/to does not handle pausing in the middle very well, or at all. I don't think FFS just stops, I believe that it requests a stop and then waits for a signal to do so. I would try syncing those files betwe...

Re: Priority time over size?
FFS doesn't prioritize anything based on size. It is all based on newer or not existing. Check your sync settings.

Re: Pause Button is not working!
What is a "long time". There are a few things that it has to so before it can pause. On a 1mb/s connection, I could see it being an issue. I sometimes have to wait a few seconds even on gigabit local transfers.

Typically that is caused by the permission settings on the NAS. Can you manually copy files to/from the server using just explorer?

Re: Unexpected size data stream
That file may have a corrupted file header, causing FFS to be sent an expected size but then it is transferring a different size, causing the error. As far as why that could happen or how to fix it, sometimes corruption happens, try to manually move that file then try syncing again.

Re: How does free file sync deal with corrupted files
That depends how the corruption occurs. If you open a Microsoft Word file in notepad, edit the foreign characters, and save it, it will corrupt the file, but it will still be perfectly healthy as far as the OS and other programs are concerned. If a drive is going bad and a SECTOR has corruption, it ...

Re: Portable Edition without limitation
You need to run the program off of a USB drive. You'll want to put the portable files on the USB drive and open it on your main computer first, to activate.

This error is saying the data is unreadable or corrupted, correct? If so, you may want to check the settings again to see if "ignore errors" is checked. You may also attempt to create a new sync job and see if it works after that.

I am using FFS to sync between two PCs on my LAN. I am getting error messages whenever FFS encounters a filename or folder with a non-standard (accented) character in it, such as é or ç - so music files by artists such as Michael Bublé or albums such as "The Haçienda Classics" are failing...

Re: non-existent folder contents aren't synced-copied
If you are running your browser from a monitored folder, it is triggering the sync. The donation version is for one local install only and can be used on a USB drive without issue. ...

What are the specific paths that you are trying to sync? Sometimes setting certain protected objects will still deny access with permissions granted. It can also be another program, typically antivirus, that is interrupting the action.

It would not. It will only sync the previously detected modifications. You would have to rename and then compare/sync again.
