Windows has a 260 character limit I believe. Is it only a single directory? What reason does it give you for the failure to create a directory.

Re: Synchronization on drive detection
Use RTS. It will monitor the two directories. Once you plug it in, it will see the directory, then trigger a sync after the idle delay time you set in RTS.

Re: Strange display: Logoff batch run only on v1903 Windows 10
I'm guessing that is caused by the method that Windows is shutting down. It looks like either the display driver is unloaded, or dwm.exe(desktopwindowmanager) is partially shut down. You may create a batch script that contains two lines. The first that runs the sync and then "shutdown -s -t -0&...

Re: Syncing from command line
Create and save a job in FFS. Find that file in "File Explorer" then drag it onto the RTS window. It will auto populate the monitored folders with the source and destination. You can change the idle delay, then save the RTS job. You can then run "start "" "%PROGRAM FILE...

Re: Mirror Sync and Folders not Being Deleted on the Right Side - Don't understand what is happening
When you set those exclusions, that stops it from moving, copying, and deleting those exclusion. FFS didn't even attempt to detect any differences for those three directories, it just lets them be. It didn't detect that it should delete them on the destination because you explicitly told it not to e...

Re: RealTimeSync cannot recoginze windows symbolic link
Arthur, monitoring a directory via a SYMLINK is not supported by Windows. It has nothing to do with FFS or RTS. RTS change detection =/= FFS difference detection. The problem here lies in what triggers the sync. FFS uses user interaction to trigger it, where RTS monitors changes to trigger a sync. s...

Re: Unexpected size data stream
The error makes it look like that file is broken. FFS says "How big is this file?" Windows responds "119701490 bytes" FFS then says "Cool, I'll copy that file to the destination, HEY WAIT. That file is really only 4 bytes, and I don't know what to do. I don't want to overwri...

No clue what you guys are doing wrong, but FFS absolutely created new folders when they appear on one side only, as long as your sync settings are correct. That picture shows an attempt to sync a folder on the left with nothing on the right. It doesn't know if you want it to sync to a folder on the ...

That is such a niche scenario... What happens when you run out of space on the tape? Doesn't it just give you an error and pause the transfer, then gives you options to retry, skip, cancel, etc.?

Re: Preserve Folder and File Dates
As long as FFS uses the basic file manipulation, it won't be possible. As Plerry stated, it's using the same process that a user would when manually syncing files. It is just able to create a "table of contents" of differences and can enact the copy/move/delete commands much faster. It wou...

Re: Pause Button is not working!
The two pictures do show the same file being transferred. I'm guess whatever you are syncing from/to does not handle pausing in the middle very well, or at all. I don't think FFS just stops, I believe that it requests a stop and then waits for a signal to do so. I would try syncing those files betwe...

FFS doesn't prioritize anything based on size. It is all based on newer or not existing. Check your sync settings.

Re: Pause Button is not working!
What is a "long time". There are a few things that it has to so before it can pause. On a 1mb/s connection, I could see it being an issue. I sometimes have to wait a few seconds even on gigabit local transfers.

Typically that is caused by the permission settings on the NAS. Can you manually copy files to/from the server using just explorer?

Re: Unexpected size data stream
That file may have a corrupted file header, causing FFS to be sent an expected size but then it is transferring a different size, causing the error. As far as why that could happen or how to fix it, sometimes corruption happens, try to manually move that file then try syncing again.

Re: How does free file sync deal with corrupted files
That depends how the corruption occurs. If you open a Microsoft Word file in notepad, edit the foreign characters, and save it, it will corrupt the file, but it will still be perfectly healthy as far as the OS and other programs are concerned. If a drive is going bad and a SECTOR has corruption, it ...

You need to run the program off of a USB drive. You'll want to put the portable files on the USB drive and open it on your main computer first, to activate.

This error is saying the data is unreadable or corrupted, correct? If so, you may want to check the settings again to see if "ignore errors" is checked. You may also attempt to create a new sync job and see if it works after that.
