As the program currently is, when you enable versioning, presumably the "versioning" folder will grow and grow over time, potentially filling up the drive it is stored on. It would…

I am a new user of this tool and there is much that I like. One feature that would be very helpful for me relates to filtering of a Compare. I would like a simple way to restrict t…

Can't find the mentioned discussion, sorry. Do you have a link?

Make Backup with Device-ID / Volume-ID like: \\?\Volume{ec1ec388-6cd2-11e2-be65-806e6f6e6963} So it is possible to make backup in a non visible Volume.

.. my issue is solved - there was some pacman problem for boost - after reinstalling in force mode I could build ffs again

RealtimeSync needs a design overhaul anyway, most importantly to show the paths of the files that trigger changes in real time. Currently the background process doesn't have its ow…

[Quote] I am saying that your case is so specific Zenju can reasonably ignore it (I don't know if he accepts funding for specifics).

[Quote] There seems to be further movement on this issue suggesting Sourceforge are backtracking on these actions See [URL] Whether one can now totally trust them from now on is an…

My Apologies jonrichco for not responding faster. I have just lived through an extremely uncomfortable day. I live in NE Thailand and in a Monsoon storm yesterday a large tree fell…

I am being rude to the same amorphous group of people as you, the people that don't understand. Do *not* make me the bad person Anyway, I think, as time passes you will understand.…

It's not just a trust issue, it's looking to see if *I* screwed something up! When I move a folder, I see the entire folder contents (all the files) in the deleted section and agai…

Good, I've included the changes for the next version. Here's the new beta for testing: [404, Invalid URL: https://freefilesync.org/FreeFileSync_7.1_beta_Windows_Setup.exe]

Thanks for your fast reply and the clarification. I will install the updated release now. And thank you very much for your hard work and your great program.

I wonder if this wouldn't be better generalised by using an external prog to do the comparison as there are potentially myriad variants of permissions.

Are modification times preserved when copying with Windows Explorer?

Hello, I love FFS and really only have one feature request for FFS. I'd love for it to correct folder names that are too long, truncate file names if necessary OR create temporary …

[Quote] Ok, next time, when i get this error, i create a dumpfile. For now i had this correct whith stopp and start the vss services, etc.

Copy locked files (use vss) should not be a global option, better it is a option for each task individual.

+1. I agree that some additional control over the logging format and detail would be extremely useful.

[Quote] Thank you for the quick reply Zenju and for pointing me to the right direction. I'm using Synology NAS as a Backup location, which has a linux based OS. I found out that Li…

Hi It would be good to have the option that users do not have to open the full FreeFileSync GUI to resolve file change conflicts. Secondly, it is not desirable that when running mi…

Thanks Zenju works well. I included the 4 files I wanted (out of 1800 in the folder). I was afraid that the "Include via filter" would apply to my other configurations as well, but…

Thanks for the work-around, but it would be nicer to have a built-in solution for that.

Great, thanks!! :-)

Ok, that's a good news, I'll check that asap... Thank you

Profit is not a dirty word. Zenju has already confessed to a passion for perfecting his craft; it shows clearly in FFS. But because it's freely available, he's not able to put as m…

I'm not sure exactly what it is you want to do but I use FFS to sync to local Dropbox, etc. folders which then get synced to the cloud in the normal way. Works nicely. You can even…
