Yes, we've seen this before. If a compare is ran, then data is manipulated, and then a sync is ran, that data manipulation won't be accounted for. Running a comparison queues up a …

What's wrong with building the function into the donate edition and then not releasing it for commercial use? Just because the dev sees it that way, it does not have to be so... as…

I just wanted to add my voice in support of some way to filter out Google formatted files. Filters for *.gdoc or *gsheet and such don't seem to have any effect. On Linux at least, …

Sounds good. Thanks for all of your help!

[Quote] I DID have that much space, enough to save the DB file for 2 FFS runs (source = different folders). I didn't run out of the space until the 3rd run. Thanks for all of your …

I understand what you mean. I don't know either c or python, so I've no clue how hard to add the feature but since the database can compare files 2 by 2, I guess the software may c…

[Quote] Do you know that to be the case? As in if the USB drive hits 85C, it says, "whoa there, time for a timeout!". Is it possible that the drive has cached data, that it needs t…

Use the NAS for Time Machine?

Thanks for your patience with me. I installed the Donation edition successfully.

Auto-Delete "sync.ffs_db" after disabled in the settings from the folderpair?

The sorting method you apply to the Compare results does not affect the syncing sequence.

Thanks for your reply, and I apologize for my long delay in responding. What do you think of having FreeFileSync write `LastRun.ffs_gui` to the same folder as `GlobalSettings.xml`?

I often want to restore from backup only the files with a specific TAG. Would be nice if it would be implemented! I use MAC OS. Thank you.

[Quote] This is possible with FreeFileSync 13: The new "Update" variant using a database is equivalent to Synctoy's "Contribute": [URL]

Thanks so much!

FreeFileSync already has this function, but it's a warning, not an error: "WarnSignificantDifference"

It wasn't possible before, but now that FreeFileSync 13 has just released, there is finally a version that can be licensed and used by businesses (including an invoice): [URL]

Oh, so you're not stating that you installed FFS onto 2012, you're asking if it will? Since 2012 is based off of Win8... you might expect current FFS to run on it.

New feature request submitted and cross-linked: [URL]

Would respectfully request the ability to enable/disable an individual folder pair, for convenience when re-organizing storage, trying new settings, etc., without needing to save/m…

Likewise, it would be nice to have an enable/disable button for each fold pair... right next to this new "go" button! Will drop my own feature request for this, but *so* closely re…

[Quote] Well done @LeoW. Now my fight is with automation using password. I found some way to do this, but with a password in the settings not yet. rclone is wonderful too.

Great info! Another option for direct cloud to cloud sync is a utility called Rclone. You can run it on your NAS, and won't need a VM. No Windows task scheduler though. Your soluti…

And in your Comparison are you comparing Project 1\images -> Project 1\images Project 2\documents -> Project 2\documents ... Or are you comparing from some other topmost directory?…

The sync.ffs_db-file (just like the sync.ffs_lock-file, if used) must be in the root of the left and right base-location, because syncs may be run on/by multiple computers to/from …

Thank You for your great work you have done. For copy to cloud storage, file encryption (as an option) make sense for one side. CryptSync, for example, use 7z libraries to do so. O…

[Quote] Is there a channel for [FEATURE REQUEST]? This function is what is limiting my use.

Also wondering the same. I want to upgrade to the donation edition, but would need it to update without user intervention...

Thank you for so much information. I have to make many tests to check all your options. From all your comments I note these points: - I know Linux/Unix is much more powerfull with …

[Quote] Wonderful, Thank you! :-)

It's vice versa with FFS. You can't have a shutdown trigger FFS*, but you can have a FFS configuration that shuts the computer down when it is finished using a "post-sync command".…

At the bottom of the comparison window there are buttons to show/hide different action categories. Equivalent is hidden by default

Thanks to the last two commenters! I will try.

This issue has been "fixed" in the next FreeFileSync version by providing a proper DB-based "update" variant! [Code] See also: [URL]
