Re: Is there any exclude and include within the excluded feature?
Well, the 'second pair' isn't a whole other configuration, you can have a single FFS config sync multiple pairs. Then it's still a single action to sync everything

Re: Transferring huge amounts of data (170TB)
https://freefilesync.org/faq.php#limitations If you have a GB of RAM free, you should be fine. Files added during the sync won't be transferred by FFS until another comparison/sync is performed. You could put put them in readonly mode, or simply run another sync to catch any remnants. It seems odd t...

Re: Is there any exclude and include within the excluded feature?
You can create a second sync pair to do this. Click the '+' and sync that subfolder directly from the "source" to the "destination", then change the inclusion filter for that pair by removing the '*' and adding the individual subfolders, leaving the exclude section as default. X:...

Re: Irrational distribution of files and rights noticed after update.
I have to assume that these files are basically templates to base the operable configuration files on and that they a placed on any connected drive at thee time of install. This is wrong and probably where the confusion is. The configuration files can be stored wherever you choose. FFS doesn't dict...

Re: Local google drive backup?
FFS is a syncing program, so there's no way to perform file conversions via FFS. You should have no problem simply mirroring the local GDrive folder to an external drive though. FFS provides filters to include/exclude whatever you want

Re: Real Time Sync bugs out while I'm copying files
Running as admin and allowing locked files might work, but it isn't the appropriate fix for you. I encounter the same "issue" because sometimes I add or remove data while a sync is running, leading to errors sometimes. I have my setup configured to ignore those errors because RTS will dete...

Re: Real Time Sync bugs out while I'm copying files
You are correct, RTS waits the 'idle time' before calling the command. It seems that the idle time either isn't high enough or your 'copy to main drive' operation had a pause long enough to outlive the idle time. Either way, RTS should trigger again after the copying is fully finished, allowing FFS ...

Re: Folder timestamp changing even though no files were synced
FFS uses a LOCK file to ensure only a single FFS session uses a location at a time. It creates it, runs a compare/sync, then deletes it, thus modifying the folder

Re: Copy files from subfolders to one only destination folder
There are ways to do this, but not easily. FFS is a sync utility and your scenario is really no longer a sync process. You can set each subfolder as a source and point them all to the same destination using the "update" sync method. But this will be very cumbersome for more than a few fold...

Re: Recovering The Files Deleted by FreeFileSync
The solution to this is to have a better backup system proactively. Unfortunately, software recovery tools, like Recuva and EaseUS, are your best chance and they provide limited results as you see. Even if you had FFS set to delete files to Recycle Bin, 40GB wouldn't all fit in the Bin unless the dr...

Re: File Comparing Options
That's a complex goal lol Sounds like you may be working out of either directory at any time, so you would want to use 'two-way', but 'two-way' will delete files on the right side that have been deleted on the left side. So then I would recommend 'update', but that is a one-way transaction so change...

Re: File Comparing Options
Well, ideally, both sides won't change between syncs. Two-way is best used with RTS, so the syncs are automated whenever a change is made. With two-way, you will always get a conflict if both sides have an updated file. Maybe you should switch to mirror? What is your goal?

Re: Starting RealTimeSync automatically on Windows 11
Add start "" xxxxxx before the RTS command so it looks like:
start "" "C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\RealTimeSync.exe" C:\Users\sever\Documents\GoogleDriveSync.ffs_real
Add "exit" to the cmd script you created
I stand corrected on njroute22's suggestion!

Re: File Comparing Options
Yeah, time and size will work fine for that scenario. It doesn't matter whether a file gets bigger or smaller, any change will be detected and then FFS will use timestamps to figure out which is newer from there. If you use 'mirror', the source version will overwrite the destination, whether the fil...
