encouraging is different from forcing... :-) :-) Sharing over a network is still available... :-)

I cannot test that but I'm pretty sure you can still see shared resources on Windows from non-Windows because the SMB protocol and the "server service" is still there...
You will have to create by yourself the needed account/pwd on both the "server" and the "client", of course same account name and ...

Bad, if you have a Mac & Linux & Mobile, with Windows, no sharing or seeing each other.


I think that you didn't understood correctly the MS statement: only the "homegroup" has been removed, NOT the sharing as done for ages before the "homegroup"!!!
"Homegroup" was just a way to simplify sharing ...

The auto-close option is simply closing immediately the window.
In this topic we were talking about the "auto-close" and not the action like shutdown/sleep.

May I suggest to put the field added with v9.7 somewhere else?
Right now it's on the same row as the profile name so it's "wasting" space for the profile name itself!
It would be nice to have it under the profile name, eventually with a collapsible entry!

This is great, but may I suggest the option to add a "time-out"? It can be helpful to see the results at least for a few seconds...!!!

I'm voting for this too! previously it was possible to just "close" the sync window!
Eventually I suggest an option like "auto-close after X seconds"

I "bet" that exFAT has the same limitation as FAT regarding the file's identification for catching move operations...

What File System are you using? FFS is able to track the move only on some File System, read the last note here https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=synchronization-settings
I have the same problem when the source is on a virtual disk created by BoxCryptor...

When outlook doesn't run the copy works. But this setup will get automated so it will need to deal with this in the end.

If the files in use (you didn't specified extensions) are .ost then these are by default excluded from shadowcopies or any backup/copy made via VSS.

...or: have you run FFS elevated? By default the elevated process doesn't share mapped drive from the non-elevated account.

:-( of course disabling the network is still a good option to avoid any software offer...

I truly think that this may be a security / permissions issues. The Windows Environment is just so security conscious and overly protective with just the simplest tasks as making copies and backups.
I cannot explain you briefly how security on NTFS works, but for sure you'll find many guides ...

That's not exactly the same error reported (reading for the OP, writing in the FAQ).
The solution should actually be correct, but one must remember to run FFS elevated or change the property to always run it elevated with the annoyance to always accept the UAC prompt...

Are you running on a UAC aware os? Is UAC active?
If so you better add yourself explicitely into ACLs.

Sorry for bumping this old topic, but since I'm moving my old Win7 laptop to a new one with Win10 I'm facing the same issue.
On the old Win7 UAC was off while on Win10 is enabled (because it cannot be really disabled as on Win7).

If the new file is below the base folder, then this is the expected behavior.
I have replicated the same sync and I confirm that the file wasn't on the base folder...

Can you make it optional? With the new layout (see my other request) if only Item name is shown we cannot check the folder where the file is!

No, it was deeper at least 4 levels (I'm on phone and do not remember exactly).
Anyway I think, IMHO, that the Overview should always be populated...

In case there is only one new file in one side, the Overview is not populated.
I have tried swapping folders with the dedicated button but Overview is still empty...
