Same for me, only on the local DropBox folder. Usually pressing "Retry" solve the problem!

earlier versions of Windows like WinXP were capable of handling these files, new Windows stumbles on them. Windows expects either a .extension or a blank filename, but never a file ending in a period.
Uhm... I just tried on an old virtual WinXP and I simply wasn't able to create a file ending ...

I cannot test that but I'm pretty sure you can still see shared resources on Windows from non-Windows because the SMB protocol and the "server service" is still there...
You will have to create by yourself the needed account/pwd on both the "server" and the "client", of course same account name and ...

Bad, if you have a Mac & Linux & Mobile, with Windows, no sharing or seeing each other.
I think that you didn't understood correctly the MS statement: only the "homegroup" has been removed, NOT the sharing as done for ages before the "homegroup"!!!
"Homegroup" was just a way to simplify sharing ...

May I suggest to put the field added with v9.7 somewhere else?
Right now it's on the same row as the profile name so it's "wasting" space for the profile name itself!
It would be nice to have it under the profile name, eventually with a collapsible entry!

What File System are you using? FFS is able to track the move only on some File System, read the last note here https://freefilesync.org/manual.php?topic=synchronization-settings

When outlook doesn't run the copy works. But this setup will get automated so it will need to deal with this in the end.
If the files in use (you didn't specified extensions) are .ost then these are by default excluded from shadowcopies or any backup/copy made via VSS.

Bug report: FreeFileSync does not work with mapped network drive letters.
...or: have you run FFS elevated? By default the elevated process doesn't share mapped drive from the non-elevated account.
There is a registry entry to change to enable the mapped drive sharing (I did it on my Win10 pc ...

I would use "It should be fixed on Android 8"... Basically it will be completely rewritten the lower layer for managing external memory, but if the connection protocol will still be MTP I would wait to see with my own eyes if the problem will be ...

I truly think that this may be a security / permissions issues. The Windows Environment is just so security conscious and overly protective with just the simplest tasks as making copies and backups.
I cannot explain you briefly how security on NTFS works, but for sure you'll find many guides ...

That's not exactly the same error reported (reading for the OP, writing in the FAQ).
The solution should actually be correct, but one must remember to run FFS elevated or change the property to always run it elevated with the annoyance to always accept the UAC prompt...

Are you running on a UAC aware os? Is UAC active?
If so you better add yourself explicitely into ACLs.

there is no GlobalSettings.xml in my w10-64 bit at C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync or any folder below

If the new file is below the base folder, then this is the expected behavior.

That's a very bad news... Tired of all the MTP's *stupidity* I was seriously thinking about rooting my MotoG 2014 and use a CM build... but I guess they didn't touch the sources so the MTP errors *implemented* in the official Google sources are present into CM builds too...

Because an account must be provided, either implicitely or explicitely:
- create an account with same name and password on both machine, give them the permissions needed and use it to login (implicit)

In my tests the modification time seemed to be totally unreliable: On most devices it is simply ignored and set to "whatever the device considers current time", or worse on Galaxy S4 setting modification time seemed to work, but after unplugging and reinserting the device, the modification time ...

6.12 as well as 6.11 is NOT mirroring timestamp from left to right. Means, same set of data is copied over all the time, instead once and then only changed data from left to right side again.

I think you have found just a *turnaround* (do not know the exact english term! :-)
And yes, scheduled tasks run on different sessions by default: you need to select "Run only if user connected" to have it use the same session... :-(

Tasks are scheduled to run ender the same account used to configure Boxcryptor?
HAve you saved the Boxcryptor's credential or do you have to type at startup?

I have used it for a long time sync'ing terabyte of data without a problem (regarding this "topic"), sometimes SyncToy too was doing a copy/delete instead of a move; so I guess it was able to handle what you are talking about.

Uhm... my old tool, SyncToy by MS, was able to detect moves everywere... it has other major drawbacks (and that's way I moved to FFS :-) but the move detection was the only reason I have used for many years "closing an eyes" on its problems... I really hope you'll find a way to solve this... SyncToy ...

So far I was only reading this interesting topic, personally I do not use the
versioning because I do not agree on keeping the files on one "side" only... I
