FreeFileSync Forum

Hi Zenju I downloaded at first from fosshub.com. After I use sf.net and size (11,0 MB (11.563.008 bytes)) and checksum were different. As you can guess the installation was fine an…

Yah, I know - trivial but this is my only gripe - everything else is great. The sync key has gone from F6 => F8 => F9 lately. I'm rely on muscle memory a lot and I'm old so new tri…

Ahh...duh...thanks

There should always be an error message when FFS detects problems. Did you select "ignore" errors? In this case error message will be shown only in the results log.

I love FFS but I am getting a lot of access denied errors It would make it much easier to fix these if there was a comma delimited log file Thanks LB

I know that FreeFileSync can copy locked files by volume shadow copy but can if the source file is located on a remote shared windows folder, can it be done too? thx.

****Solved: found that the include filter was missing a "*". Does anyone know how to refresh to overview to display all the folders? Mine comes up empty and after running a compare…

Hi all, On Mac, version 5.23, every time I run a mirror sync, the FFS program keeps detecting the already copied files as new, and asks to overwrite the files on the right side. Ev…

Trying to compare two directories, ffs starts the comparing then the compare progress disappears and the main window reappears. (Silently failing.) Where are the log files kept so…

Ok, it was my fault, I have created the "versioning" folder in the "D" Hard disk and of course it creates the folder every time I use FreeFileSync. My fault, it's all right, really…

Thanks MHawk - have posted to feature request. Also SRJ - your link to mapping skydrive from Windows 7 looks useful. But for Windows 8 the better link is [URL] This works well and …

Are there any issues with using FFS to do a mirror where the left folder is on an ReFS filesystem & the right is NTFS? I'm primarily concerned about permissions not copying. We hav…

Thanks Zenju for some really important information about what is happening under the covers. Seeing the one end of my folder pair (the one that is updated by the scanner) is on FRE…

Thanks for excellent software. And it would be nice to have ability to provide additional include and exclude filter items in command line, wich will be merged with corresponding f…

You can disable the lock file if you don't need it: see help file chapter "[URL]".

His FFS is multithread... like robocopy with the /MT: option?

Yes, I've already done that and that is working. This is not important, but consider possiblity of exclusion that is implemented on one task and ignored for other.

Thanks Keith for the support! You can solve the problem with FFS creating multiple database files by splitting down the task in a different way: Don't use the sub folders for synch…

Most of FFS's usage should be pretty self-explanatory. The non-obvious stuff that is required only in special cases is covered in the help file. So there isn't really that much lef…

I feel stupid, you told me this [404, Invalid URL: https://sourceforge.net/p/freefilesync/support-requests/187/] but I couldn't find it and the notification went to trash. Thank yo…

Errors often occur because of lock files, temp files, and other transients that are there when the compare is done but gone by the time the sync happens. I could see having a repor…

I've added this to the help file.

Look into BoxCryptor (Classic). BoxCryptor is a file-level encryptor, and as such quite a nice companion to FFS. It allows you to create one or more encrypted folders, that appear …

Why is this a major obstacle? I've used this from day one via windows scheduler and it runs perfectly.

nevermind, just delete this topic...

How can I submit Feature Requests? There is no feature on the SF.net to submit feature requests?

Would be fine to be able to backup and restore the window placements. I reordered the windows, but when I upgraded, the window placements were reset. Could be this fixed? At least …

FreeFileSync is an excellent program to do complex (large) comparisons. These may take more time than is expected, which may lead for the user to need to pause the operation, for e…

i saw that this feature was requested before and closed, but i would like the dev to reconsider this syncing by size only is a very useful feature for files within which the data i…

[Quote] Database support for detecting move/rename is still not available (checkbox cannot be ticked) for: Update & Custom!

At least in Windows, you can achieve this yourself by using the "runas" command ... See [URL] Your "program" here would be something like "C:\Program Files\FreeFileSync\FreeFileSyn…

When FFS copies a file without archive bit to the compared folder and that file has an archive bit then, that's not mirroring then. The files are not exactly the same. A backup pro…

Hi, When I noticed that FFS creates database files on the source drive volume an idea popped up in my head. It would be nice to have a feature in FFS that calculates the checksum o…

I found the Change Log here - - [URL] It would be more professional to include the release dates of the versions. Very good synchronizaton product you created.

And there is "DefaultExclusionFilter": [404, Invalid URL: https://sourceforge.net/p/freefilesync/feature-requests/381/]

It'd be nice if we had an option to turn on or off particular folder pair(s) in synchronization session. A check box, next to each pair, would be sufficient to temporary exclude so…

Hello Zenju, i understand the Problem. Then I'll just copy the XML file before, then I can add my comments again. Thanks for the quick reply.

The next version contains a basic command line syntax to allow merging multiple configurations and/or setting directory pairs externally. Here's the new version for testing, let me…

Thanks!

There a other schedulers out there. I believe this would be a whole product unto itself and a waste of Zenju's time.

I would agree that is not the purpose of FFS. I wouldn't spend developer time on this.

[Quote] "as part of the batch file to send an email I check for the most recent file" I'd be interested to learn how you do that.

> I guess you could just filter it out, then remove the filter when you want it to sync Or, you can create two sync jobs (either as *.ffs_batch or as *.ffs_gui). One full sync (inc…

Hi! It used to exist a button "Default" in the window Configure Filter, now it's gone. I think this button is very useful to restore default filter options like the one that exists…
