FreeFileSync Forum

Dear Zenju, I've been maintaining the Debian package of FreeFileSync for some time now. It is based on the sources tarball that you distribute. I found that in version 13.8 you add…

xCSxXenon, You were right, it was my filter. I was trying to only copy *.xyz files, so empty folders were excluded from being deleted when I deleted all the files, even if the fold…

You are right. I never even tried it without quotes because quotes are so frequently required when paths contain spaces. I didn't try drag/dropping either so I'm glad to know I can…

You can check in the program „Personal Backup“ how you can add a scheduler system to FFS.

My idea was to integrate Features like the three backup methods like in the program „Personal Backup“. Also it would be nice for some other users too. A feature like integrated sch…

Thanks. I just wanted to make sure that there was no way to deal with this directly in the GUI. I will follow your advice.

This is already a feature if you check the box to use a database

Any chances? :)

Hello, I use dozens of .ffs_batch files, and sometimes some of these .ffs_batch files encounter an error, which causes the retry option to activate. I use the retry option with 10 …

No killing explorer in task manager will not remove it, only a clean boot. Additionally, I think it is something to do with sleep settings. I got it again today when the computer w…

ffsimon I followed the method described in the [URL] finally is working again, thanks.

Hey there, I want to join the discussion because I wanted to propose the same - or at least a very similar - feature request just now, and want to give a 👍+1 (not sure if I can vot…

Hi @bob306 For remote access I would recommend the free plan of tailscale. It will give you an IP address for your machine inside your home and another IP address for your remote c…

Plerry, Thanks for the reply. I don't get the option of the lighting bolt because I am running this in Batch mode. So simply put it runs on schedule then presents the dialog with e…

Thank you so much for your reply. When I ran Compare, there was only one file that was misaligned. I deleted it from the target and re-ran the sync: at the end of the process, it a…

Hi, I try to get a scheduled job running with systemd timer and freefilesync. I've currently stuck with the following error message in journalctl -xe. [Code] FFS does start just fi…

[Quote] Thank you bgstack15, I didn't notice that the 3.3 was an unstable release, and used the last stable release of wx... I compiled the 3.3 libraries and it worked.

Hello, This was the first time I used colors in my configurations and I realized that when you apply a color to a configuration it resort all configurations by their colors, but I …

The only way for me to have a FAT32 formatted card is buying a card reader and connect it to either a Windows PC or Linux PC. Now Windows generally doesn't allow formatting large S…

After seeing a ton of your posts complaining and suggesting, is FFS the right software for you?

You worded your post horribly if you were attempting to provide feedback and direction for the dev. The original post includes two questions: one asking if your steps were correct …

(Suppose something in that regard would only apply where both ends support same methods...)

There is RunWithBackgroundPriority, though different, & not really "interactive", might afford some help. [URL] (What was I doing... hashing a set of files, & simultaneously copy/p…

Devaluating a well reasoned and explained proposal... that's all?

Noticing some things now that I have the full donation version and can use parallel threads. Parallel threads were actually one of my primary reasons for moving up to this version …

[Quote] What is "substantially different"? When does FFS warn: before syncing, or after? [Quote] I know about Versioning - it's something I don't need usually. What I need is mirro…

Thank you for your detailed reply. I think I understand the concepts of FFS and RTS now (already having found the RTS manual :) ). If I get it right, my idea of a "delayed (and man…

I think I've found the solution. The definition of the remote SMB share was wrong. In typical, illogical Linux fashion, the share has to be: v/run/user/1000/gvfs/smb-share:server=a…

Thanks, Plerry. As with so many things in Linux especially, it came down to a question of permissions. The NAS was incorrectly mounted, so that root was owner, not me. As soon as I…

Thanks for confirming that. I also found that double-clicking the red RTS icon in the taskbar causes RTS to show the RTS GUI after it stops the current sync. Then I can run the FFS…

Hi! Currently, during sync, there're 2 real-time graphs. Both graphs currently show the same gray projection line, which predicts completion based only on current data transfer spe…

I don't think that kind of write caching is common, the kind where you have an actual separate ssd to buffer writes, but even then you could just measure how busy the drive is as s…

Thank you for your answer. When managing multiple devices, can the license period for each device be managed separately? If I purchase the first unit on January 1, 2025 and the sec…

Rsync is a very difficult app to use in comparison. I understand that you're fixated on using a UNC path and not a drive letter being mapped to that UNC Pad but why don't you give …

Thanks for the reply. I think, looking at the final post of that thread, the answer to my question is no.

[Quote] The "problem" description in your initial posting clearly indicates you have no clue how to use the combination of FFS and RTS. And that is exactly what is explained in the…

thanks for your answers! yes i meant a filter for the configurations not for profiles, sorry... Something like that would be fabulous - just as a suggestion: [Attachment]

I suspect that system dark mode became active while FFS was running, which isn't supported. An app restart will fix the color glitch.

It's a known limitation: [URL] [URL] [URL]

I would find option 3 very useful, so clarification on this query would be great. Thanks

3. In the sync settings (F8) you have the option to "Run a command" respectively "on completion", "On errors" and on "Succes". I believe you can only use one of those three (but ne…
