always pop up online and offline activation which I don't even know how to get the code

I have tried to copy all types of files. If I use FFS, they are unreadable. If I use windows explorer or other sync tools they work fine.

[Quote] You don't, it's just an open-ended thread. Although, it would be kind of cool to have something like GitHub/Microsoft where there is a dedicated page to issues and then eac…

Yep, this has been on here before. The answer is to talk with your IT team. However, if you have local administrator access, I have an inclination that they won't be able to help y…

Thank you for these explanations. This is actually what I do in this kind of situation (manual selection of the most recent version). Coming back to my original problem, I don't un…

[Quote] That is completely unrelated to this thread. You have multiple files with the same name and in the same location in Google Drive, FFS can't figure out which one to use beca…

OK, I read your comprehensive reply and also looked at the underlying philosophy of FreeFileSync. I then took the following action. I inspected both the source and destination fold…

Thank you very much!!

No, you don't want to mess with the backups that Windows creates. They use extra stuff to create a sort of 'timeline' when restoring from, it doesn't just copy the files to a desti…

And thank you for the Forum Support!

Thanks Zenju. For anyone reading this later, I can confirm that l did receive the download link for donation edition, by email, (if I remember correctly) 1-2 days after the bank tr…

It was impossible to delete this file as long as the USB key was in the right-hand port. I don't know why, but when I placed the key in the USB port on the left, I was able to dele…

The absolute very first item of the FreeFileSync (FFS) Manual is: "Basic Usage: 1. Choose left and right folders." which obviously constitutes a (left-right) folder pair ... Obviou…

Outstanding, thanks very much, not sure how I missed that either.

You are probably missing the DISPLAY environment variable. See my [URL].

Instead of using the "Time stamp (Folder)" option in Versioning, try using "Time stamp (File)" or for your case (keeping just a single previous version) "Replace". When using the "…

Thanks so much, not sure how I missed that.

ok, got it, thanks. I'll do a manual clean up this time but your explanation is extremely helpful for some of my other work.

If you are browsing for a location in FFS, it still uses your native file explorer. Make sure you have enabled viewing hidden/system files/folders in your OS

Theoretically, files can have an identical checksum and still differ in content. That is however very, very unlikely, and, as explained in said threads, not the reason why FFS does…

Hi, I wanna sync 1 local drive to my nas back in the day, I "fried" the src "drive" doing so... like the src dive was unusable after a huge bulk sync is there a way to sync then st…

The problem seems to be that you created an overlap between your two folder pairs. Your first right location is D:\ , your second one D:\Photos . But D:\Photos is obviously part of…

I was hoping that FFS portable on external drive J would be entirely independant of standard FFS installed on C.

asking for the same wish: for mac: one button in the GUI to reset all the paths, or a simple method to reset one by one. many thanks!

[Quote] When you do that, are you asked to provide username/password to the NAS, or does it "just work"? Does a (Windows) Scheduled Task (already) contain the username/password, or…

??? "QUOT" command? Quota? What in the world are they talking about? There is no "QUOT" command issued by FreeFileSync. This has nothing to do with any "quota". The server issue is…

Thanks for the reply Zenju, My take on the MS documents is that FileID is a valid (and the best) mechanism for tracking files on NTFS, and I see why you wouldn’t bother with Object…

Yes, you will probably want "*\A_Exclude\" in your exclude filter. You can also run a compare and right-click the folder to select from multiple exclude syntax options

Download the Linux version from your unique download page and run the '.run' installer

In- and Exclusion Filter rules are relative to the root of your base-locations. Because your base-locations are D:\ and E:\Backup (and not D:\Dropbox and E:\Backup\Dropbox), you ne…

You might try wrapping FreeFileSync with Xvfb, which you will need inside your docker container. It sets up a "X virtual frame buffer" which can also be called a dummy display.

Google drive for desktop (as written). Google Drive Function from ffs does not work with autosync.

Great. It works. Thank you so much!

By default, the FFS Compare results window only shows files for which sync actions (in any form) are required, and hides files it thinks are equal. If you click the "="-icon mid be…

[Quote] That sounds more like a failing drive than anything else

Dear xCSxXenon. Thank you for your input. You're right. I did not think of that. I will use FFS for sync only. That is what it is made for.

Go SSD everyone! I have about 6 new flash drives I'll never use. SSD is a LOT more expensive, only the SPEED is WORTH IT! I get under 50 with flash and over 400 with SSD!

Good idea. I'll try that in the future. FFS finished synchronizing after 3 days lol.

Be aware that the location the %AppData% variable points to is computer-user specific
