Re: Flat versus tree file structure
After much discussion and consternation over this issue, I finally resolved myself to accept "the way we roll here", and have relenquished trust, assuming that the file selection process works the way it's supposed to. I have given up analyzing the data shown in the output screens, and assume that ...

Re: Transfer from FFS 10.24 to Current Version - Okay?
Well I upgraded from 10.24 to 11.28 and no hitch of any kind concerning my existing *.ffs_gui files. Just thought I'd confirm here, the information might help someone else sometime.
Still can't say I'm a fan of the file listing in the GUI after 10.24 but I'll persevere with it, maybe it'll be a bit ...

Re: FFS Deleted "bootTel.dat" Files - Is This Okay?
Okay Zenju I'll assume the files were okay to delete.
However, I won't go so far as to delete all files in C:\ except for swapfile.sys, and pagefile.sys. as I arrange things so that Windows is installed to a single partition — no Windows hidden partitions on my system (which is how I want it to be ...

Re: FFS Deleted "bootTel.dat" Files - Is This Okay?
Thanks for responding. I had already read the link you point to. However, it (and other sources I found) don't say if the bootTel.dat file has to be kept on the system. None of what I have read states if it is safe to delete those files. Should say the drive seems to be operating fine even with the ...

OS = Windows 10 Pro. 22H2 x64
FFS = version 10.24

Transfer from FFS 10.24 to Current Version - Okay?
I have been using FFS version 10.24 for quite some time, as I didn't like the revamped GUI interface in later versions.
I have recently moved OS from Win 7 to Win 10 and am thinking that I want to give a current version of FFS a try and see if I can get used to it. However, I am wondering if it ...

Re: Does Detect Moved Files work for Mirror syncs?
Thanks very much Plerry. I had to ask as I find the Manual a bit ambiguous on this subject (at least by my reading).
But note that 'Detect Moved Files' only works for file systems and OS's that have (cross restart) stable file-IDs.
I'm on Windows 7 so I will assume that it can/does do that ...

Re: Flat versus tree file structure
Johny111,
The older version to go for is version 10.24 as this was the last version released that used the old structure of displaying what it going on. Whether or not that will suit you depends on what you actually do with FFS. Really, you would just need to try using 10.24 and if it works ...

Most of your questions can be answered by reading through, or watching, the available documentation/videos on FreeFileSync. Work through all of that first and then come back to the forum with a question list that will be a bit less extensive. (In essence your questions are asking people to re-write ...

If you are going to try using Veracrypt then it is worth mentioning the following.
I will refer to the file that Veracrypt creates (to hold your data inside it) as the Veracrypt file . I will refer to the mounting of that file as a drive letter as the Veracrypt volume -- you would actually copy ...

Try the following in your Filter settings (press the key F7 to see them):
*\!*\
The above will force not to copy folders that start with a "!" character. Note that if the folder contains any files and/or other folders they, likewise, will not be copied.

I just did a quick test of the situation you describe and I had no difficulty with FFS remembering the newly added exclusions -- so, in theory you shouldn't on principle be having the problem you describe. However, I'll take a stab in the dark at the problem and say that maybe the location that the ...

Re: Donation in US Dollars
I think that if you are paying by Paypal just leave the donation as being €20.00. Paypal will calculate the conversion for, in your case, US Dollars to Euros and make the appropriate payment. For a one year donation it will cost you more than $20.00 as a Dollar is worth less than a Euro. At current ...

I don't see the reasoning of your complaint given the way FFS actually manages its donation edition . If you donate then just consider your donation as the 'purchase price' for the full version. Once your donation period is over you can still use the last (latest) full version of the donation ...
