If RTS for whatever reason pop-ups the [Code] window then if user goes to the Tray notification area of Windows 10 and clicks with the right mouse button on the icon of RTS what ha…

Compare and sync are two separate stages in FFS. A full compare must run before a sync can start. You may look into breaking the single sync into many subsets of data, then compare…

Well, My cryptonator is still working on Onedrive without any issues.

I think the algorithm has changed a bit since 11.13. Unfortunately, there is no perfect way to calculate it, every option has certain situations that cause it to be inaccurate. I t…

Gotcha! No, Task Scheduler is simply running FFS as you define. FFS and Task Scheduler have nothing to do with each other software-wise. [URL] Looks pretty straightforward luckily!

And thus there are two reasons for users to be able to control the default Maximum Idle Time: to avert annoying repetition during initial "updates" [i.e. creation of] FFS_REAL file…

[Quote] There are programs that also have the fourth mini-icon [with a dot], which purpose is to minimize its window to Tray

There are people who have whole Desktop filled up with all kinds of garbage to the point where they themselves do not even know what they have among dozens of icons on a 21:9 monit…

OK, it is clear to me now how FFS / RTS work in these regards - thank you for your help. I got confused: the last time I stupidly mixed up in my head [Quote] with just monitored fo…

Hundreds? No. Dozens? Yes I do not trust blindly and jump into allowing any program to potentially affect all of my data from the get go. As with everything [like for example in ca…

You are taking a very inefficient approach. For your example, you can use a single left-right base-folder pair: C:\ <=> D:\project and either change the FFS Include Filter from the…

You should actually just use "File History" built into Windows. Unless you are wanting an indefinite version history, it is designed to do exactly what you describe.

Thank you for the links about this situation.

I didn't even know you could fullscreen RTS! I can't imagine needing all that space lol It would be nice to have it consistent with FFS

Ah yes! I could see a mash of run-on numbers being tough to sort through

1) Correct. As discussed multiple times in this forum. 2) If there will never be any other, concurrent FFS syncs involving C:\ (and/or Z:\) you should be safe to not use the lock f…

Ok but not always it's used for remote files, like I use it in my LAN between a raid and a nas, and a bit-to-bit comparsion it's the same to download the whole file to compare with…

That's indeed an inconsistency: FFS indicates a changed configuration, but does not actually save GridViewType for an ffs_batch file. Fixed in 12.4.

Your suggestion seems a pretty bad idea. When resuming the Comparison, a whole lot may have changed in the part of files and folders that were already compared and of which the com…

Yes, but if we fit the icon color of these 2 options, it will be much easier to see the changes to be made.

I'm not sure why in forums the discussion for the brew casks always point to freefilesync website, when they publish their releases on GitHub, which i would assume to be a more rel…

I have solved this with following way. I have four drives that need to be backed up e.g. Drive C, Drive D, Drive E, Drive F. Step 1) Create batch file with auto close for each driv…

File explorer? Network?

Hi, As far as I know, when FFS compares by contents, it's all or nothing (the whole file has to match); for some files, I want to ignore part of their contents. As for Photoshop, I…

Hi, I've been using FreeFileSync for awhile and have a suggestion about the log results screen. I think it will be helpful if the results can be sorted by size of the files that ha…

Thanks xCSxXenon ... I saved, overwriting and, as you said, the window no longer appears! :-)

Paranoid... Stimmt

I think I've understood now, thank you.

Yes it's using SMB. You could use software to map the Webdav to a local drive letter, and then FFS will just see it like any other file system. It looks like the speeds aren't grea…

I launch FreeFileSync with Admin rights from the Total Commander taskbar using nircmd elevate which works well for me. I can't see why TrustedInstaller status should ever be needed…

Sid said [Quote] I'm new to FFS, but I've been using a different file syncer for many years (SFFS), and I think if a file or folder is excluded from the job, it should be ignored, …

1. I want to prevent it from crawling. Right now it's wide open. I can type in the UNC path or drive letter if it's mapped. and it will go right in. This was done years ago. I now …

Ok, thanks for the suggestion. Regards.

I would like instructions also. Not extremely important although it would be nice to know how to compile.

(pseudo-code) go.bat: [Code]

Just run the shortcut modification directly

Perhaps there is: [URL]

I'm not able to reproduce this on a newly installed Rocky Linux on x86_64 architecture: Installation and app start ran smoothly. Maybe some third party ("Security"?) software is in…

Shout out to Plerry, therube, and Zenju!

that's fine - thanks!

I saw that, also for those out there that have a severe case of OCD, you actually have to have equal files for the selection to show up.

I would find it useful to be able to filter by arbitrary attributes. For example, in one scenario it would be helpful to be able to exclude files whose attributes are PLO (FILE_ATT…

[Quote] Yes, that's what I'd have suggested.
