You can't use FFS to duplicate a system disk.

Yes, this is what save is for.

> FFS will compare the copied file and the original file ? Yes, it will read source and target files again after copying and binary-compare them. >Are there more great features Thi…

I have an existing synchronization I would like to edit to add another folder. How can I accomplish this?

"you should use RealtimeSync.exe with either a .ffs_batch or .ffs_real file as argument" I do. See point 7 in the first post. "However note the "delay" in RTS: After a change is de…

Okay, so you only want to sync the files which are new since last sync. You could try the "filter by timespan" and depending on how often you sync select for example a time span of…

[Quote] It looks like *ltrace* and *strace* are the pendants for Linux.

For anyone that just wants a very fast easy way to change the date back to the true back up day this nifty little program does it quick (or alters a batch of exif dates you maybe d…

The color represents the level within the directory hierarchy; each level has its own color, repeating after 12 levels.

RealTimeSync will start monitoring as soon as it sees all directories that have been configured. There is probably a way to setup some really fancy script, that will only launch RT…

[Quote] Yes, thinking about it logically, Windows should present the filesystem the same way to most applications. The only gotcha would be performance. The "Compare" should use ti…

>but wouldn't it be ideal if a single job scanned all the directories and made synchronization decisions based on the full picture Sure, from a user's perspective. But I have doubt…

Right-click somewhere on free space, e.g. between comparison and synchronization buttons and use the context menu.

Apologies, I found another post that answered this question. Turns out I had 2 processes of FreeFileSync running which caused the error. Sorry for wasting a thread.

It's not the same: - only "automatic" can detect file deletions and conflicts of type "change on both sides" - only "automatic" propagates all changes, e.g. you overwrite a newer f…

You could call the .ffs_batch from a .cmd file and add a net use /delete \\server\share after the sync.

Great! I think it works fine. The true is that I don't care spent time for sync too much. Your program is absolutely the best (possibilities, logging is fantastic, batch...just eve…

It should have worked both ways: as long as the config panel has input focus, it will delete all selected configurations upon pressing DEL.

It's probably not the FFS process but some system process that is handling the encryption and using most of the CPU. This is the case for Truecrypt, if that's the tool you're using…

Yes, it's ready, no known issues so far. (tested both Windows 8 32 and 64 bit)

No, permissions are not part of the data that is evaluated when searching differences on both sides.

The filter path needs to be relative to synchronization base directories. See the help file on "exclude items" for details. Shortcut: right-click on an item on main grid and exclud…

Thanks for the follow up on the registry entries. I can confirm none of those entries is created by FFS.

Then it's probably time for an update...

No problem, just right-click on the empty area on one of the other controls, e.g. between "compare" and "synchronize" buttons, and select the panel to restore via the context menu.

> show the old and new file names which would indicate that the file was renamed. The information is generally there, but we'd need a mechanism to transfer a list of items. An envi…

Yes, ERROR_BAD_NET_RESP 58 (0x3A) is the same error code like the one in the ticket above.

:-))) Thanks!

> And I'm not getting a log file in %SOURCE%\FreeFileSync\Logs as expected You should see an error message in this case. Generally, environment variables are supported in all direc…

Disregard. Maybe I made the FileTimeTolerance value while the GUI was open. I ensured that the entry in the .XML was saved without FFS being open, and it now appears to be working …

Well, it's ... and overview on the grid data. After comparison it should be clear what it represents. You can also do a directory analysis by specifying a single folder only, e.g. …

Uff, you were right about the recycle bin. It contained a batch of over 100.000 files of which I thought I deleted them permanently with Shift+Delete.. Thanks for your help. And fo…

Sync settings -> mirror, see also help file

Hi, many thanks for your post! Indeed, I have tried another tool, Cloud Safe Webdav drive and it works but the speed isn't spectacular either. Funny because if I use a webdav clien…

It worked because at that moment there were still original copies of the files on the desktop, ie. my MOVE was actually a COPY. I have worked around the problem by doing a disk cle…

Yes, actually it was a bit or fully stupid to delete these rar files in question, but...

It worked .. thanks for the help.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to take awhile to work on this (weeks) and then I'll get back to you. I have several deadlines looming and your program is working well enough to let…

I had the same problem today, so I looked at the permission on the shortcut the FFS installs on the desktop. I first tried to set my user name's permissions on the security tab, bu…

The checkboxes are for temporary exclusion only and you need to specify your filter relative to base directories. See the help file for examples. Or simpler: use the context menu f…

> plan is to run it again on "A" and the new "B" Each directory you include into your network of syncs will also become a master repository, e.g. if you Sync A <-> B and B <-> C, t…

In the helpfile for the next version I won't be recommending the "service" solution fo RTS anymore. It creates way too many problems, and there seems to be another, simpler solutio…

The problem is explained with the limitations that apply to FAT32. FAT supports date ranges from 1980 to 2107, while NTFS already starts at year 1601. The usual behavior of FAT dri…

Installing RealtimeSync as a service is probably not the best (and certainly not the simplest way) to get real-time synchronization. If all you want is start an application at cert…

> Gladinet FFS freezes with a message: "waiting while folder is locked This is probably a bug in Gladinet. It seems it somehow buffers some data locally, but does not correctly del…

Yes, and I have sent an answer to the gmail address. Maybe it's in SPAM folder?

Wow, thanks! I'll check it out! BTW, I appreciate FFS more each time I use it - EXCELLENT product and GREAT support! Thanks for your work on it!

Thanks for pointing out the LastSyncs.log! (There was a minor typo: the location is "%appdata%\FreeFileSync\LastSyncs.log" - just FYI for anyone else reading this thread and lookin…

Thanks for the pointer, I had the directory level permissions set ok but not at the share level. Solve and working fully now. Thanks
