Ups, you are right. I messed up the translation. Of course the error message says: "... Please reinstall FreeFileSync." [Attachment]

Here are some (including some dups). . [Zenju, 2026-4-07: removed. Please don't share them] I just wonder whose birthday is on 6/20 ?

I have a couple requests/suggestions to make syncing much more efficient in some situations, when using the "Copy DACL, SACL, Owner, Group" option: First: Using the recommended "fa…

The batch config will display them if you run the comparison manually in FFS. Only if you run the batch config via command line will it auto run and close

Hello, I would like to set a time limit for syncing, too. Of course FFS would have to check the time only between syncing files and stop gracefully when the file is finished and th…

No, it is not a scheduled task, I just want to check the folder for changes and then actualize the target folder,

Hi, I also sync to Nas. 1. Have you tried mapping a drive letter to nas share? 2. I prefer to mount nas using rclone. You can try that too.

This has been fixed in the next FreeFileSync 14.9.

Hi, I put together some notes regarding your situation. They describe an easy way to split your large backup between two smaller physical disk drives. [URL]

Yes, so, assuming that you use FreeFileSync on these files, it proves that the File Size comparison setting uses Folder Name/File Name/File Size as the comparison value.

Well my issue is for the backup of the one drive is spread among 5 drives that I can only connect one or two to the pc at a time. all my other drives have the exact same drive as a…

The limitation of the solution of both therube and ertank is that it only works if no other/further FFS instances are active, running syncs on other, non-related left-right pairs. …

Agreed 100%. It is just a matter of terminology. It was my mistake. The software is great. However, I still think that a warning would be of benefit. That would be relatively easy …

Here is some information that's together regarding the use of your own SMTP server. You can't remove the built-in server but you can add your own. [URL]

I have not used it, but I googled it and found this: [URL]. Icons in .exe files are just a resource, and I would expect you can swap them around with a tool that sounds like this. …

Windows 10 Pro x64. FFS v14.8, "normal" version - not paid for version. On my system I run as an limited user (e.g. user "Tom") and have to "elevate" to an alternative, admin capab…

Wait. Found it.

I remember seeing this request before. One of the issues this causes is that two files may be flagged as different sizes even though the size column is equal (eg. 1KB vs 1KB). This…

I literally already answered your question in my above reply [Quote]

Works fine! Thank you.

First of all, congratulations and thank you for this extraordinary program. I have a suggestion: that it be possible to create groups of sessions and that they can be expanded and …

Suppose I have a folder with lots of files. The dates have gotten changed on some of them, and I have to get them sorted out. The trouble comes when there are files with the same c…

Nice to see another person appreciate this. I just made a post a couple hours ago requesting all the images.

MacOS installer says to locate the Security & Privacy preference but on Tahoe it's labels Privacy & Security.

Well?

The program will scan the full destination for the very first time only or only if the user initiates a manual scan. After that, the program will track only changes to the source t…

UPDATE: Final version 1.0 (macOS Tahoe & legacy compatibility) I would like to share my final script with the community, hoping it might be useful for other macOS users. While I de…

Run 14.8 linux installer. When I read the license (pressing S) I saw Putty but FreeFileSync license. Should you use its own license?

@Plerry As far as I know, "Fail-safe file copy" uses ".ffs_tmp" even if a file is being newly created (without overwriting a pre-existing version). Otherwise an incomplete file wou…

It's a progress display. The yellow progresses as the sync progresses, and you don't have to open it to check status

If you don't display folders in the comparison, you can't right click "exclude temporarily", which is quite convenient for me. I simply think that file inside folders that are mark…

[Quote] Fair comment - I worked around it until it was sufficiently no longer annoying :-)

FFS is failing to write the log files to its AppData directory.

NO! Rclone is merely a software program that mounts cloud storage and other drives so that they can be used with free file sync. For example I use Linux in addition to Windows and …

If you start your batch job by double-clicking your .ffs_batch file, it ends and close? If not, then you must check [x] Auto-close and [x] Ignore errors

I agree this would be a useful feature, this causes an issue when backing up large files and everything other device just stops dead. An issue with some other solutions is that it …

Thanks for the reply, I do have it set for Delete and Overwrite, I have now switched off Fail Safe File Copy. I can see in the comparison list many files way down the list to be de…

You can run FFS via CLI. Just have your script run the FFS sync after it completes

[Quote] Enable it via menu->tools: options.

Using multiple configurations is certainly a workable solution if a bit inconvenient. I would need to setup multiple/many configuration and performing a synchronisation, possibly m…

I created a little helper-script for that and linked it in the OT: [URL]

2 additions to my suggestion: If a Compare run should reveal that the "bottom line" of syncing would exceed free space on dest: Pop a message box and... If a Compare run should rev…

Thank you, I understand. That was already clear to me.

I'm sorry, I didn't see that post with my previous search settings. Thanks!
