FreeFileSync Forum

Hello., I would appreciate some help on dropbox folder which I could only view due to the owner's restriction on my windows machine. The problem is when I tried to "mirror sync" th…

How to compile FreeFileSync 10.1 on Fedora Tested on Fedora 28 1. Install build dependencies. [Code] 2. Fetch and extract source [Code] 3. Prepare patch required to compile on Fedo…

[Quote] Are you confusing RTS and FFS? RTS cannot be set up to trigger a sync at specific intervals (at least currently). [Quote] Sounds exactly like what RTS is supposed to be doi…

The encoding issue should hopefully be fixed with the following version (assuming the problem is due to your FTP server expecting ANSI instead of UT8). Does the following version w…

[Quote] Maybe we have a server bug here. Can you send me a Process Monitor trace for the time when you hit retry and the error message comes up? [URL]

Hello, when I use Free File Sync (any behaviour, but in this moment I use Mirroring) with network shares, only doing the scanning process to check what to update between LOCAL fold…

[Quote] That's not how you check for free RAM. You need a tool like Task Manager or better Process Explorer.

In previous versions of FreeFileSync there was a useful log file overview of backed-up files and their sizes. Now with the newer versions (9.x), this seems to be not visible anymor…

Excluding them should work: [URL]

By trial and error have succeeded in creating a batch file for multiple sync pairs and successfully running it. As for RealTimeSync found that it can run only one batch file and he…

Thank you for sharing that! You inspire me to post the build instructions for Fedora 28, when I get around to doing it for the latest version of FreeFileSync. I realize the link is…

Hi Zenju or whoever can help, I really need to restore my files before syncing and have followed the instruction described in, "[URL]" Right now, I have zipped the dmp file. Will y…

I don't know. You've quickly exceeded my knowledge. What is SFTP, and why would OneDrive not support it while other clouds apparently do? Is there another way (other than SFTP) to …

Again, follow the link above and install while Process Monitor is running. Then we'll see what we've got.

Your description is quite cryptic. But I will give it a try. If I understood you correctly: It seems you have defined "WhateverDrive:\\WhateverPath\copythisFolder" as your left loc…

I have the same problem, so I'd say that all folders need to be available, at least with RealTimeSync. Love to find a workaround, though. Liked FreeFileSync enough to contribute. T…

You should be able to use the Credit Card with PayPal, too, without having to create an account. Did you try this? See "Donate without joining PayPal": [URL] If nothing helps: [Quo…

I've followed the update link from 9.8 - it downloaded 10.1, *said* it had installed it, but when I started FFS it was still 9.8 - I've even tried to install to a different path, a…

It builds now, thank you for the quick turnaround.

Up until a couple of nights ago I was able to synchronise files between my PC and two different Android devices without problems, but today the comparison keeps stopping at some po…

Forgive me if this has been requested before (I'm just new), but do you plan to add an option to compress files in the destination folder? I need this to protect some files vulnera…

The "Custom" settings you show are the default settings for "Custom", but can be changed according to need. Those default "Custom" settings might appear to be the same as for "Two …

Thanks. Yes, you are right. I used the absolute path rather than the relative path :(

I asked this question elswhere, but it didn't get answered: The RealTimeSync icon in the taskbar has a message "Waiting until all directories are available". I'm currently syncing …

Well I was able to back up all of my files without issue with this version. Thank you.

I found my problem. I had a filter not to download .pdf files, which is what those files were. The filter I wanted wa PDF, the whole folder and not individual files. I should have …

This should just automatically work, I would think? Assuming you mirror over the contents of the expensive datacenter server to the cheap datacenter server correctly, when FFS runs…

In "Comparison settings" deselect [x] Include symbolic links or select the (o) Direct option. [URL]

FreeFileSync automatically overwrites the file and creates a new DB when the error is ignored.

OK thanks for that, Zenju. One more question: the RealTimeSync icon in the taskbar has a message "Waiting until all directories are available". I'm currently syncing 2 PCs - I may …

Thanks for the update. Yes we are waiting for option to limit the number of versions.

Ahhh, thanks. That works great!

Well, a lot has happened since I initially posted, so I can't say for sure, but I think all I needed to do was unzip the Resources.zip file.

Can you send me a Process Monitor trace of this? [URL] Perhaps some other application is messing with the installer process? (e.g. AV)

Not really. FreeFileSync is for files. In addition to the files on the filesystem, a hard disk contains a master boot record and partition table. Those are not copied by FreeFileSy…

This looks like an old NetPresenz FTP server for the mac. Is it possible to get login credentials for testing? I could then try to adapt the parsing and see if FFS can support this…

I agree it should be made clear that the donation edition is only for mac/windows users, given the fact that statistically linux and mac users are more likely to donate.

Update: I solved my problem: While updating to Ubuntu 18.04 somehow my ntfs partition changed its ownership to root:root - chowning it back solved my issue.

Fixed! [URL]

Hi Zenju, Thanks very much for your reply. That's right, I want to delete the files in a folder after they have been copied to the destination folder (and keep the origin folder). …

I have a similar issue. I migrated from an old PC to a newer faster one (actually the old one began to overheat and was slow to begin with). So, my question is, I have installed th…

I assume other applications are also unable to work with what seems to be a custom file system implementation for Windows Explorer?

I have just upgraded from FFS v9.3 to v10 and am a bit confused about whether or not v10 has installed itself as a Donation Edition or not; v9.3, when launched from the same folder…

[Quote] I'm going to have to disagree with you here. If you have one copy of data that is, arguably, the master copy because it includes all of the data, and then you have a sync c…

Thank you very much. Now I found it. Kind regards Chris
