FreeFileSync Forum

Idea: currently, there are two ways to compare files when dealing with Google Drive sync: by time and size and file content (byte-by-byte comparison) However, I noticed that gdrive…

Is there a way to limit the filesize of the LogFile when an error occurred? For example, the disk is full, or the drive is lost during a sync?

You could: - Create a second sync that doesn't shut down - Change the setting prior to running the sync - Cancel the sync before it finishes - Change the post-sync command to wait …

👓 💾 do not impart enough meaning. You did hint to it before, but I've forgotten. And you can't "search" for them. Even if there were a mouseover that would help the forgetful. (Oh,…

Thanks, I understand now. In this case, I guess all folder synchronization apps are working in the same way

My compare process took over 24 hours to complete and was for over 7TB of data. Why can't we get some kind of pause ability even if the pause is not instantaneous but rather let it…

This can be done with Robocopy: [URL] Also been discussed on this forum quite a bit. There are various scripts that you can have run post-sync [URL] [URL]

The warning is just that: a warning. It does not block anything; your FFS sync will run just fine. As an alternative you can use [URL]. This will retain as many previous versions a…

@Plerry Your suggestion is the solution I was looking for. I had some confusion at first. I had in FFS the path to Folder1 and Folder2 (Update). At first I couldn't figure out wher…

Thanks a lot! I'll follow that thread. Yes, it's exactly the same problem I'm having!

I was looking for a backup program that would have the following characteristics: 1. The backed up files could be opened on another computer without having to have the original bac…

No :-( Default is thirty . . . Something told me it was there, or maybe I remembered seeing the option. But I didn't find it. . . Sorry . . .

For security reasons, I have the same wish: mirror synchronization of server drives with a restricted user (readonly service user) on a local NAS. Thank you in advance!

I found the problem. I did not run the task with the rights of another user. Thanks everyone for your help

Got the script working as far as I need it. If anybody needs the same and finds this thread, here it is: [URL] The .exe file is a Windows executable, beside the Dart source code. M…

Thank you so much

Hmmm I will have to investigate this. So you can't select a subfolder to filter out? Just a master folder?

[Attachment] You mean this? I don't see where it asks for a donation, but I do see where it thanks you for a donation. There is a button to take you to the donate page but it's jus…

Just a quick note to say this app really saves time and effort sync'ing devices. And I haven't really used this much. I'm sure there are other aids other than simple sync'ing of di…

OK I will set a test up and learn filters, thanks :)

Thanks for this reply, I will try soon.

I'm a long way from rich but I can afford a computer and a backup drive. So I can afford the odd few $ to send to FFS. Please put 1$ a month in a jar and then send it to them at ch…

The fact that the size is of a left- and right-side file is the same ("correct" in your terms) does not necessarily mean the content is the same. Obviously this even holds for file…

AFAIK, there is not a way to set it to default to that. (I'd like it.) (Related, kind of, [URL] :-).)

If you set the [URL] to true, it will, but make sure to read the limitations.

I took the time to recreate my filters and it works now. No idea what was different; I foolishly forgot to save the 'before' XML file to compare to the new. Thanks to all for respo…

Ok thank you Unfortunately the excellent guide that you kindly sent me is in English, I am not very experienced in computers and I get lost easily. I see to make do in manual mode,…

Certainly not the same action for every conflict. You would have to find possible cases and allow the configuration per case. I hope there are not too many cases.

Hi all, I love FFS and finally I ran in the same situation. It would be great to have the choice of an action also for the "=" files. In my special case we are exporting files to a…

Thanks a lot, this helps and I also understood where I went wrong. I created the batch file and put it in the external disk and targeted this batch file and not the batch file crea…

That isn't possible with FFS You'd have to mirror a full copy to an external device from offline-PC, then mirror the external device to the online-PC

This is not my usecase. The drives change often. I can't really change the database structure, the filter list would be longer than the actual list. I have some jobs that have 100+…

You can type a custom command already. You can write a script that does anything you want and then call it after FFS runs

[Quote] Yes, this error can come up on the first run, and only there: There's no database file yet, so FFS falls back on "differences"-based sync directions for "update". In this c…
