FreeFileSync Forum

Your post is a bit confusing, because you write RealTimeSync (RTS), where the pictures and problems you describe concern FreeFileSync (FFS). A FFS TwoWay sync does exactly what you…

I didn't know that! I thought that it was only eligible for upgrades within the major version of the one donated for!! I just downloaded the donation version 12.1, and it works!! T…

[Quote] That's weird. If it keeps happening, it sounds like something related to file locks, like the OS/FFS is holding a file and that's why it can't get deleted.

Okay, so from the very limited screenshot, I can see that FFS says it wants to update the files on the server. I am guessing the timestamps on the files didn't transfer when you ma…

Does it work if you try again? Does every other file copy correctly? Have you restarted the computer? If using an external, have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in? Ha…

I tried looking at the pkg files. It's not at all clear how to use the files independently.

[Quote] This can work. It lacks a "restore" option and dumps everything in one large folder so it could be hard to know where a restored version needs to go

See [URL]

For other people who encounter this thread in the future when searching via search engines (like I did): You can also re-save the FreeFileSync file as a batch job, and when you res…

[Quote] Thanks, I’ll look into that.

[Quote] Aren't "offline flies" and "files with an actual copy available on the local HDD" the same?

Ok the later in my last post worked like a charm, thanks again.

Hello daviank, Thanks for the quick answer and link to the other thread! I was aware of that one, but not sure it was the same, (as it's technically not a freeze, but the expected …

I found a solution I want to share with you guys I can now build 12.1 successfully and it works just fine In order for this to work, I needed to enable 32 bit and multilib support …

Many thanks! @Zenju

Thanks all for the quick replies. All sorted now. It's a new product for me & hence I have a 'few things' I need to learn.

Always use the source website! [URL]

That's what the "compare by file size" comparison variant is for.

Ah, now I understand! Thank you. I saved the Firefox profile folder to another folder on the SD card and the problem is gone. Love that program, it's so good. I used SimplySync bef…

@Zenju: I just downloaded the 12.2 beta version for macOS and it is working perfectly. Thank you very much for your help and time, I really appreciate it!

Black is the color for the top level folders of a folder pair. Therefore they only occur when you're using multiple folder pairs.

Thank you. I will try that.

Hi I'm backing up files from a Windows 10 PC to a Synology NAS. I'm receiving the following errors: [Code] During the above backup 131 files were successful and 9 had the above err…

[Code] @zenju please check I'm receiving this since today, version 12.1 I excluded sync.ffs_db from the filter and it worked, I then went on to my google drive and deleted all thes…

Plerry, THANK YOU! I removed the Google Drive folder from the pair that was being monitored. The changes don't need to be a two-way sync, so this works in this case. Changes to the…

Create a shortcut to the .ffs_real file/config, and then change the properties of the shortcut to run as admin, then put that shortcut into the startup folder. You will get a UAC p…

[Attachment] You can open as many RTS sessions as you want, here I have four running. Just run RTS, create the config, save it, open another RTS, config that one, save it, etc

Thank you very much!

I think I have resolved this issue now. When I run the .ffs_batch file from the place where I saved it in Explorer, it works perfectly. I was also able to schedule it to run using …

[Quote] It's hard to understand because your original post conveys that the two versions of the files are in different locations, not that you changed a line of text in the file th…

Thanks for the suggestions. It's fixed now. The problem was the spaces (blanks) in the file name argument passed to FFS by the W10 task scheduler. The entire file name was properly…

it's two different pairs, the first is set to include * on the parent folder and exlude these folders, and the other to include only the specific english language files ;)

Different file sizes and contents ... does not matter. The most used size is around 60MB. Lots of those. Yes that is (nearly) the difference. The new update to 12.1 did not bring b…

Thank you very much for your help

Works fine. Thx for your quick support!

Just updated my Ubuntu to 12.1 and it seems to be working great. Thanks for the update. Will be switching to donation edition.

Run as Administrator Do you have custom fonts you are trying to back up? If not, just exclude the folder. Backing up anything in the Windows directory seems odd to me in the first …

On why and how the ffs database files are used, see e.g. [URL] and (although described in another context) [URL].

The web hoster apparently had some temporary resource issues. Should be working now.

Is there a way to restrict "all the files" to just the base directory level other than the exclude \*\ that I used in my original post? I thought that \*: might do that, as the man…

[Quote] Correction: Fixed for 12.2. While the changes are implemented in 12.1, they will only come into effect during the 12.2 auto-update.

Wouldn't, File | Save as a Batch Job, do what you're wanting?

Thanks for your replies. I've just purchased the Donation Edition of FreeFileSync and updated to the current version 12.1. I now find that "GlobalSettings.xml" has "C:\" instead of…

After I posted this, I discovered the Forfiles command. Looks like that might be the solution. Have Windows Task Scheduler kick off a BAT file with the deletion from Forfiles, then…
