Thank you, Zenju! So, I finally caught up with everyone else.

I haven't tried older versions yet. It's a good idea to look into the corrupted file, but I missed that opportunity unfortunately, as I already deleted the files. The issue haven't…

My system OS: Ubuntu Impish FreeFileSync version: 11.14 (installed directly from this website) I use this command to run my sync job automatically (unintended in the background). C…

[Quote] Thanks, but it still didn't work. (see attached images) Error during installation: "Cannot read file attributes" "ERROR_DIR_NOT_ROOT: The folder is not a subfolder of the r…

Basically, if you can't get to it from File Explorer, you can't sync with it.

Huh, thanks. I just tried running the batch job manually twice right now, and indeed the second one says "waiting while directory is in use". Which was definitely not the case this…

If you are using 'mirror' or 'update', FFS won't delete anything from the source. Something else must have caused that. I also have not seen FFS not respect recycle bin settings, f…

[Quote] Sounds like the installer is crashing. Someone very clever at Microsoft thought: "Users are unhappy when apps crash. So let's hide the crash dialog and pretend nothing happ…

From other reports it seems FFS 11.14 isn't treated so favourably by Microsoft's virus scanner. I have a hunch, this slowdown could be AV-related. As always, you can check disk act…

[Quote] This doesn't explain why there was no error indication of any kind. If you would go to the terminal and just try to execute the .run file as is, ./FreeFileSync_11.14_Instal…

[Quote] How did you do that & about how long did that take? I just ran a scan... 100,000 files in about 15.sec. If you extrapolate that to 16,000,000, one might think it should tak…

Change the options to delete permanently instead of to the recycle bin?

The only workaround i have found so far is to run File Date Corrector on my files after FFS copies them over. [URL] It is fast! Some files and folders seem to have no internal date…

Choose which copy you want to keep

1: You don't log in, the donation installer has your info preloaded. 2: Double check the locations

[Quote] I don't know what to tell you, then. It does seem to have at least stopped FFS from throwing up errors about those folders. I haven't been able to run CHKDSK yet - this is …

Many thanks!! Jack

FFS Sync 11.14 stopped working on those pesky *.wpp files at the same time as MSoft released a definition update to Windows Defender - 23rd October. It only affected me backing up …

Plerry, it seems likely that your tip has provided the solution. I've not had a recurrance of this issue since I split the syncs for pc A and pc B into distinct jobs. Thank you!

Alright, thanks for confirming this!

FreeFileSync Donation Edition is 1 USD If you need new features, 6 months later you donate again ONE dollar and so on....

Hooray! It took a few reboots but now it works. The magic seems to have been deleting out-of-date credentials for the target machine. On the next scheduled start, Windows popped up…

[Quote] Thanks for the response; latest Mac update installed and latest version of FFS. I don't keep the packages historically but did have the problem with the older version too. …

Ah yes! I forgot that about the exclusion

You now have to format the usb stick. Easiest way is in diskpart: create part pri format quick fs=ntfs You can of course change ntfs to whatever format you want, fat32, exFAT, etc.…

I also had this issue, I excluded that file because it seems to be an identifier that OneDrive uses. Right-click it in the compare window and exclude it from the context menu that …

I forgot to mention that the problem concerns the old backups with versioning.

That is not currently possible. You would have to exclude all the "extra" data that already exists on 'B' when syncing up to the cloud/USB from 'A'. It would possible, just convolu…

I discovered my issue.... Typo in the drive name

Facing same issue. I am trying to make donations using PayPal and I prefer only PayPal rather than sharing credit card details anywhere online. May I know how can I resolve above i…

[Quote] Can you share the Process Monitor log?

I have tried to use FFS on fedora 34. I cannot access to phone folders through FFS using native mtp protocol. I have then installed simple-mtpfs and I can successfully get to mount…

Then I'm at a loss regarding what else to try. I would need to see a real test server that exhibits this "unexpected eof while reading" to debug this.

I did wonder about that - but don't know enough about it, so was just grateful that it started to work reliably. Are there any other test you would like me to carry out (in the int…

Why? RTS waits until the directories are not being used any more before syncing.

Thank you my friends for that advice. I am the only one using this PC so clicking "Ignore" should = no risk. After I am satisfied that clicking "Ignore" works, maybe I will try Ple…

Hi, we are using FFS already for years under MAC OS with no problems at all - even synchronizing serverbackups up to 20 TB was running smooth. Now, on a M1 iMAC (Big Sur) and after…

No sorry. The list is so long that I did not bother going through the difference. I suspect it does not copy over all the files, but I haven't had time to check it.

The change you'll want to make is not in Tools | Options, but rather, [URL].

[Quote] I wasn't a useless folder I'm afraid but I got round if finally by shutting everything down, restarting my PC deleting the folder on my backup drive and then re-syncing it …

merci :-)

Ah, that will do it! nice

Try the free version, I haven't seen anyone try that yet

Should the cron point to a .ffs_batch or should it point to a .ffs_real (which points, from within, to .ffs_batch) ?
