FreeFileSync Forum

For information and in case it helps, the sync that failed because of the ≠ character was between two computers running macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 via the local network. I also have…

The .run file is a compiled x86_64 iirc, which means that you do not run it with sh or bash or any other shell. You need to mark it as executable (which you have already done) and …

[Quote] Done: DefaultExclusionFilter can now be managed directly via the sync settings filter tab (F7): [Attachment]

Hi, I can't get FreeFileSync (11.12) to sync files over 10GB (I think) via FireWire on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6. It hangs indefinitely and I can't stop it or quit. It also hangs t…

Now it is clear, thank you for your response, and patience. Now my workflow is working seamlessly.

Not enough information to assist. Sounds like your source was empty and you synced that to the destination. Do you have versioning enabled? Do you have another backup location? If …

Found the email in the Spam folder. New version installed, thanks.

My scheduled FFS batch job has seemed to run more smoothly, except for one hiccup, since selecting "Run whether user is logged on or not" but I recall I also recently set a couple …

I'd suggest narrowing down on a single example file and doing some tests. For example, for one file that you assume existing on the network side, but that FFS shows as "not existin…

ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND is masking the real error, which I suspect to be something like access denied because there is no authenticated session to this server. Evidence is the passwor…

Thanks very much. Good to hear that the issue can be fixed! As I said, after deleting/re-creating ~/Library/Application Support/FreeFileSync several times, FFS has been working fin…

No problem, I'm here to help! Glad you got it working!

Actually I don't think the realtimesync can monitor and sync to Google Drive. You see the thing I am trying to do is bypass Google Drive inability to share a folder with a friend a…

Interesting. I always assumed USB was slower than ethernet. Good to know the real story. I have a 2TB nvme SSD that I use as an external drive. It's a clone of my main drive using …

Hi Zenju. No, the problem persists.

Hi, thanks. Yes, OnDrive uploads an delete the file always. In my case I can disable this with LockDirectoriesDuringSync = FALSE Thanks, Peter

Obviously your laptop does not discriminate if data is local to your (V)LAN or goes external. It simply lists the data leaving its Ethernet interface. If you are interested in data…

Hi xCSxXenon, Thank you very much, it's ok now! Kind regards, Paul

Same error with the 11.13 beta. A cause could of course also be that the hoster does not use the most recent version of ProFTPD. But they are not willed - and I can understand that…

That's helpful thanks

Go to the synchronization settings and read the description of each sync method. You will probably want mirror or update, but you'll need to know the differences to decide

The db file is only for the location that it is in. So the "destination" missing it should, in my expectation, cause FFS to sync the data from the "source" again. But like I said, …

I still have installed it but the same issue ... ;-(

Wow thank you so much❣

Thanks. Very helpful.

Thanks very much, therub and xCSxXenon.

Thank you, that's the information I needed.

Tools -> Options -> Default Log Path

I never click compare as FreeFileSync apparently detected changes when I've used it.

Most versions within reason are compatible, but XP to 10 is an insane jump

You would want to use 'update' as your sync method, but it will not detect moved/renamed files

No, FFS is for syncing, not deduplication

Zenju, that and reinstallation of 11.11 fixed it. Thanks. I knew it had to be one of those "sloped shoulders and flat foreheads" things.

There is FFS, [URL]. Additionally, you may have set priorities in Windows Task Scheduler or via the desktop shortcut (Properties)... What you're probably running into is what xCSxX…

I keep finding relatively simple scenarios which don't seem to be possible without the use of multiple pairs (and which would of course all be solved by allowing regex). If you thi…

Thansks for your support. xCSxXenon. That's what I'd do. Instead on six systems, I use now eigth systems, buit yesterday the last system I've updated crashed with a total disk fail…

No it can't. RTS automatically runs the command one time when it starts

Thank you. Based on the article you provided, I removed the "run with highest privileges" check from the Task Scheduler checkbox, and it appears to work well now. I appreciate your…

Glad you got it fixed! Hearing what happened when you plugged it into your computer, you probably could have ran "chkdsk /f X:" where X was the drive letter

Just ignoring the error and running the sync is enough. The broken db file will be overwritten. But make sure you manually check sync directions before doing this.

Go to your unique donation page and look at the bottom

Your personal donation web-page also shows you which machines FFS (thinks it) is installed on. Removal of any such installation from the registration is not taking effect instantan…

Syncing 'Mac OS Extended' ↔︎ 'ExFAT' So here's what my 'Filter → Exclude:' looks like now: /.fseventsd/ /.Spotlight-V100/ /.Trashes/ /._.Trashes */.DS_Store /.DocumentRevisions-V10…

See [URL]. But note: exclusions are relative to the left and right base location, and apply to both said locations, not just one.
