Nevermind. I forgot that I had monkeyed with my target server to change the chroot directory for that user. Once I changed it back to what it should be, things started working. I'l…

It is related to Topic 11895 as you say. The one extra piece of information I would add is that most variants of Linux _can_ do what's described there as a workaround for MacOS, i.…

My search was unsuccessful, so I've opened another thread of this exact topic. Now I know there are fellow syncers, who are waiting for somebody to pull them out from this mirrorin…

Oh, okay... Then I'm not the first. Probably not the last. :/

ah I see that. Thank you for the quick reply! I recommend adding the download option to the Help dropdown itself or maybe change the text in that dialog. It isn't clear that clicki…

Thanks Plerry, it is exactly what I wanted.

Hi, Are you using OneDrive software that comes with Windows to access the files in ffs? The only way to get this to work properly is to make sure that 100% of the files on OneDrive…

Maybe it was because I used the "portable apps platform version". With the "zip donation portable version" it worked. Thanks.

But already twice App crashed and produced dump file FreeFileSync_Win32.exe 14.2 CrashDump 2025-02-23 185807.dmp So, i have to rollback again. Waiting for next release.

By default, FreeFileSync (FFS) "locks" the left and right location(s) during a Compare and Sync. See the description of the [URL]. FFS does so by writing a sync.ffs_lock file to th…

From what you describe, it seems the Update sync variant (as opposed to the Two-way or Mirror sync variant) is what you are looking for.

update: we found a regression in our rpm-tools upgrade that caused the corruption when packaging FreeFileSync. Having fixed the regression, the FreeFileSync package now works again…

Figured you guys would know the most about this. Trying to set up FFS between my desktop and laptop. Both computers connected to same network via ethernet. Network profile is PUBLI…

It works! I also noticed you have a few more patches, and put back the ffs_traditional_view.patch. When I find some time, I will look into the other ones. Many thanks!

I have encountered the same problem, after using the recovery software to recover the deleted files, but all the files are damaged, what should I do? May I ask if you have solved i…

Hello Zenju, I downloaded the ZIP and extracted it into the portable folder. This time I selected "Overwrite ALL files" (before I selected "Overwrite OLDER files". Now it is workin…

I am using FreeFileSync Portable and have extracted it to the following folder: [Code] Up to now FreeFileSync detected my license file and I was able to use FFS normally. Today FFS…

Like the original error/warning already tells you: The GMX cloud apparently did, and likely still does not support directory monitoring. Therefore it is not possible/useful to use …

Thank you Zenju. That helps. I have compared folder by folder to find the missing files via Explorer and eventually find them. I just can't figure out why Free Files isn't catching…

You need <PostSyncAction>None</PostSyncAction>

You can edit the (global) Include and Exclude Filter rules via the (red) funnel-icon mid above the left and right base location in the FreeFileSync (FFS) GUI. Pressing F7 does the …

Thank you, therube! I did have Update using the "Use database" option set. deselecting it stopped filling my trash can. Thank you once again!

[Code] The time durations until the "Connection closed" occurs vary a lot. This probably rules out "keep alive" as being the issue. It's unclear which side is initiating the connec…

The last thing I would want to do is overwrite the currently existing backup, as there seem to be two corrupted files already, in different locations of the same (system) drive, co…

My pleasure, glad you got it working

It seems you have selected to use the "Use database file to detect changes" option (in the Synchronization Settings (F8) window) in your Update sync. Then, as xCSxXenon replied, fi…

Thanks a lot

Oh, I've searched, but I couldn't find the question. Thank you very much, I'm following the discussion there...

192.168.x.x is a "private" IP address. Now not sure if that is expected (in context of "Passive Mode")? Though if you're wanting to go through the "internet", it would need a "publ…

When you created the RTS config, you saved it and chose where it was saved

Oh, do you mean the FreeFileSync menu? And do you mean Preferences inside that?

Your response was really helpful, thank you.

it's working now, thanks!

The only option to only Compare and create a list of proposed sync actions is in the FFS GUI. After running a Compare, you can export the file list via Tools/Export file list.

I am not able to help your but I am searching how group the configurations. I would like a tree group like standard folders tree

Note that the log-folder setting is user specific. FFS writes the logs to the specified folder according to the user credentials under which the FFS sync is run. If you run a sync …
