[Quote][Quote] Thanks Perry, I could not find this previously. Dave

Thanks for the link

[Quote] As stated by the dev, FFS DOES support long file names, so that is not your issue. The other reply may be worth looking into for further diagnosis. We'd need screenshots or…

Thank you for your prompt response! In the meantime, I have recreated the deleted folders in the “Revisions” folder, and everything is functioning as expected. The duplicate post w…

Sounds like your selected left/right folders have that entered. Or maybe you have versioning set to go there? You could always create a new config as well

You need to bump the version number with every new release however minor, otherwise this causes problems for package maintainers downstream.

Hello everyone, I am trying to synchronize OneDrive images with iCloud photos using FFS on Windows 11. FFS works fine, selected files are copied correctly to the following path: C:…

I just checked and the default setting in the Apple software for Windows that lets you access iCloud is on demand file access so the files are normally in the cloud only until they…

Filter entries are always relative to the left and right base location. If you don't know hoe to enter/specify your filter entries manually, you can run a Compare, and in the Compa…

Current versions of FFS are limited to (FFS) 32-bit .exe's on Windows 7. FFS v14.5 was the last version where x64 worked (& also where the VSS feature worked) on Windows 7.

Hi, For Dropbox I use and recommend the use of rclone to mount Dropbox Without using the Dropbox client that synchronizes files back and forth To your PC. This gives you a way for …

But then I do not get it. Why do I set 2 different values if FFS is using always the highest of the two? I can only optimize comparison? But this backfires if the files which I hav…

Many thanks xCSxXenon for your reply, you make some valid points. I think what I will do is replace the data on these separate drives using FFS with a database. Refreshing the the …

I think I found the source of my confusion: the "Show files that are equal" button at the bottom was not "on." I'm also seeing that TeraCopy copied the folder for My Music, though …

Looks like this was already reported in the General forum and is planned to be fixed in 14.8. See [URL]

I just noticed I forgot another thing I do. I have an external NVME inside of a fire/water proof enclosure that I leave connected 24/7. It is encrypted with BitLocker and I only un…

You don't need to do anything "extra". Simply make sure the donation key file is in the same (unzipped) folder as the rest of the FreeFileSync (FFS) install files at the time of in…

Looks like the solution is quite easy, if done by FFS itself! [URL] [URL]

...4 years later (2026-02) and I FIXED THIS SAME PROBLEM trying to back up to a USB flash drive (a new and high quality Sandisk 512GB one). In my case, the issue was that the flash…

".DocumentRevisions-V100" is excluded by default. In your case the leading dot is missing for some reason.

Your response didn't include any additional info, so I am only guessing here lol Could be a corrupted file or failing storage drive. If that file has some of its data stored on a c…

Thanks. Was thinking that a script would be the answer to the issue. Wanted to verify with those who have worked more extensively with cron that it couldn't be executed as a cron j…

Yes indeed. So is there an error in my setup regarding having only a subset of files in a folder versioned while the rest is just mirrored without versioning? Or is this just how i…

Thanks so much! I created a new recycle bin folder on the destination drive and designated that folder in the Synchronization Settings, and it is working great.

I was responding to the OP, not your secondary observation. For you specifically, there's a few options. You could click the bundle in the overview and temporarily exclude it from …

Which operating system version is this? What kind of drive is O:\?

Super! Solved! Thanks! Don't know how this happened. I probably copied an existing configuration and forgot about the versioning details. I feel a bit stupid... Many thanks anyway …

I wanted to share what I found worked to have RTS start monitoring file(s) on startup in Linux (specifically Mint). This is a very GUI method. I hope it help someone else: --- 1. C…

Is the error message different than before? Where in Windows have you set up the proxy? Can you give an example of the syntax used for the proxy settings?

Thanks a lot xCSxXenon!! Constructive feedback: I want to suggest adding this to the Tools -> Options panel. Because this is not really an "expert" setting, but rather a setting ab…

Thanks Zenju! Now the colon works as expected!

Aha, that sounds logical. I'll stop pestering you then ;)

I'm back. I spoke too soon about errors. It turns out that one of my sources was an incorrect path, and I had a lot of files that couldn't be read (I am admin...). After I cleaned …

Unfortunately this is not my case as the issue persists long time

Not that PowerShell is difficult per se, but it certainly isn't easier than clicking a different 'save' button and checking two boxes. I'm glad you got something working, and I lov…

Sounds like you have years of technical debt you've gotten yourself into. Your first course of action is to consolidate, but more importantly, organize your data. FFS isn't a dupli…

Of course, FFS always only copies "the ones that do need copying" Telling it what it needs to compare and copy is what you do, as the user. If FFS threw that error, somewhere it ca…

Easier to just use the appropriate user data folders (Documents, Pictures, etc.) and then back those up. There's no way to identify user generated data to do this

Never tried this specific use-case, but what you describe makes perfect sense. Just to make sure, give it a try. Run an Update sync, after it finishes, delete a specific file from …
