is there a possibility to find out why FFS is getting stuck ?

That might depend on how you installed it. It might be "freefilesync" or "FreeFileSync" or "org.freefilesync.FreeFileSync" or "FreeFileSync_x86_64" or similar. In your terminal, yo…

FFS was not the problem! Turns out backing up files uses a lot of cpu leading my pc to over heat. Just turned out that I happened to be using FFS to backup my pc. Replaced the ther…

Update: reverting to 10.2 seem fix the problem.

Just found it myself...go to file/new and that's it.

Kia ora everyone Great program, but when running my backup, I get a variety of the following issues "G:\My Drive\Business\Kiwi Driver Tours Limited\Freelancer\Tanzeela T\Bokun Widg…

thanks for the link I tried with other sync tools : dirSync Pro : same error than FreeFileSync deltaCopy with rsync : links were not recognized I finally wrote a powershell script …

Sounds like a failing storage drive

Hello, I use FFS to synchronize my internal and external computers, but lately I have noticed that the Google account is no longer accessible and asks me to log in again. I would l…

The "key" or whatnot, is likely tied to a piece of hardware on the (particular) machine, like it's NIC, & when you restored the image to the new machine, it had a different id for …

Thanks for the example which seems obvious in your example. I'll add exceptions to the filter list for the default folder rule, and add new custom rules for the sub-folders in ques…

Thank you.

Ah! I didn't know that also worked for the drop-down lists. Never to old to learn something new ... ;-)

Thank you, the macro is what I need then. If anyone is looking for the answer, in the target field there is no need to use versioniong. Add %TimeStamp% to the folder's name: %TimeS…

Works fine in kubuntu 25.04, it was an issue caused by old software.

I use SmartBackup and FreeFileSync daily, automatically, shortly after my two PCs boot up. Each computer runs Win 10 Pro. Recently something started randomly rescinding the auto st…

Perhaps this also helps: [URL]

You're very welcome🙏.

I need to save all my ffs_gui files which are all in the same repertory. I tried to save them with freefilesync but when saving them freefilesync executes all ffs_gui files. It wou…

So, IMO, might FFS have caused your issue - I'm thinking not. More of a coincidence that it happened shortly after installing FFS. That C: "disappears" after a BSOD... I've seen th…

Drat. Thanks

I've experienced delays/pauses when transferring files in Windows using MTP, even without any error messages. It might be due to having other files open at the same time. Switching…

[Quote] I agree. That chain of parent keys should not be, and shouldn't ever be, volatile.

In order to establish that only your 7 files need to be synchronized, FreeFileSync (FFS) needs to Compare all files/items in the scope of the sync. How else would FFS know that not…

@All I always thought that FFS is actually a great tool for hobby users and not a tool for professional synchronization of large amounts of data, which can, for example, run in the…

I found this on a Google search. For me, the problem was samba and Linux user/group issues. Things weren't matching. I found the issue when FFS tried to copy into an existing direc…

Oh maan, that's a perfect explanation - thank you so much :-) If I summarise (correctly?) my 2 sets of folder-pairs were not unique pairs. Your suggestion creates unique pairs "The…

Almost certainly missed the "Use quotation marks to protect spaces" part in the manual.

[Quote] Thank you. It seems the problem was that I didn't remove the "*" that was along with the "2025*\*" in my inclusion filter. Cheers

You can also toggle it to show all "equal" items and then save that as the default view

[Quote] It doesn't ask you; it just straight up tells you "The folders are created automatically when needed". I think if I could press "No" to this then everything would be fine? …

Should I understand no answer as it's not possible??

> So, if I disable writing sync.ffs_db files, wouldn't the biggest advantage of FreeFileSync be lost? Whether the use/availability of a database is FFS's biggest advantage likely d…

Can this feature (Uncheck All) please be added back in? I know there are work-arounds but it would be nice to have this functionality. I have a folder of 20000 files or so, with, o…

[Quote] This is the opposite of your initial question. What you describe is the behavior when you checkmarked "Use database file to detect changes" in your Synchronization Settings…

My guess would be a failed installation caused by AV software.

Good advice. Agree moving everything possible out of AppData is a good thing; haven't seen a way to do that from inside FFS. (%ffs_path% is the installed program-folder, not the da…
