FreeFileSync Forum

This has been fixed in FFS 6.11.

Found the problem. I think old project files from an old version of FFS was causing it. The problem went away when I opened a new sync project!

No responses here, so I've started a new thread for this question at [URL]

RealtimeSync's native file format is .ffs_real. Passing a .ffs_batch file works, too, but is mere convenicence, and has the drawback of using the default timeout value.

Hi Guys, I've got FFS 6.9 installed (64 bit version) on a W7Pro64 SP1 PC that was syncing a mapped NAS drive as N: to a local disk D: as a backup of the network shared files. It us…

Where i can get WxWizFrame.fbp ?

I think the best way to keep multiple versions of files as backup is by using FFS's "versioning" feature. What's missing though is a way to have FFS consider a time span. This is p…

OK, starting from scratch did help. It now works. Unfortunately I don't know what was wrong. Regards, Bart

[Quote] +1 for this suggestion.

Hi Plerry, I am dealing with a fairly complex directory structure and in some case 4 or 5 levels deep. My challenge seemed simple at first. Essentially all I want to do is create a…

[Quote] Yes, that's the only limitation of this solution. "Review" in this case means making sure the two folder pairs are disjunct with regards to the file filter. If that is give…

Hi, so I'm currently looking for some backup program and people recommended this. So after trying it, I have a question. Using RealTimeSync - is there a way to not have FreeFileSyn…

Ok, but if I am complaining ? :-) Is it possible to add an option somewhere to keep them even if empty ?

Well, thanks a lot. I've asked three questions on this board, for three different problems, and never received any answer. I guess I'll just stop using FFS.

Thank you for your very generous offer. That offer caused me to be sure that something else wasn't causing the problem. After several failed experiments, late yesterday morning I d…

Hi All, FreeFileSync 6.10 for Windows. Under "versioning", how to I tell FreeFile Sync how many of these I want to keep? I am concerned that my backup disk will get overrun. And, I…

You're doing just a tad too much. Create the realtime.ffs_batch only in FreeFileSync, not RealTimeSync. Open it in RealTimeSync and then save it as a RealTimeSync batch (realtime.f…

After about fifty attempts I solved this way: \AppData\Local\*slash_asterisk \AppData\Local\* \AppData\LocalLow\*slash_asterisk \AppData\LocalLow\* \AppData\Roaming\*slash_asterisk…

FreeFileSync doesn't cache the directory structure between runs, so the slow down must have a differenc reason.

When I setup a batch, does the order go from top to bottom? Just asking because when I go to add a line the top line drops into second place. Seems like if I add a line it should d…

[Quote] The new 6.11 beta version has solved that issue. Thank you for your hard work. Sorry for my late answer. I was abroad over the last week. With my best regards.

Sorry for the late response. I had a drive die in my NAS and I made the mistake of installing OS X Yosemite over the weekend. I have confirmed as of this morning that this problem …

The program installation wizard is in a weird language. I can't read it and I don't know what each thing does. What should I do?

I observed the following behaviour, which I cosider as bugs: 1.) If syncing has finished and you close the main window before the little progress window, FreFileSync crashes. 2.) t…

Got it working now. Just run FFS as admin: Right click on FFS shortcut on desktop and select properties. And under compatibility, check "run this program as an admin"

OK so the 'issue' is with RealtimeSync (the FreeFileSync retries was a bit of a red herring) i.e. the update that should have been kicked off every 60 seconds (plus mirror time) di…

How can I do that? I cant find this in the Helpfile? Is this really the solution for different file sizes? Where did the different file sizes come from? Isnt it a filecopy-problem?

I suspect that as with many knowledgeable people you find it hard to imagine just how dense a layman like me can actually be :) Having said that, after much headscratching and swea…

Ah that would make sense. This is a first time sync to an empty HD. Thanks!
