FreeFileSync Forum

Started used[URL], it makes the job. But I'm a bit frustrated to add a tool in my "stack" so I'm still open to another solution

This is almost certainly a bug in macOS 15. I'm not able to reproduce this on macOS 12. Most likely it somehow has to do with the "owner" of the app folder which is "root", because…

Set it so it keeps whichever one is correct

That works. If you still want to manually trigger it, saving the sync as a .ffs_batch configuration and double-clicking that file directly should also work

I synchronize data from PC 1 with PC 2 using the FreeFileSync program. In the meantime, more than 2.5 million are compared and synchronized if necessary. The data comparison runs q…

I ask because I'm looking for a work-around to send FFS notification emails with an attachment - as far as I know that's not possible. So, I was hoping that if the command runs bef…

Yes, can confirm Task Scheduler is working for me just fine now after using for a few days. I've edited the freefilesync batch file and the task scheduler job itself to tweak a few…

[Quote] understood thank you. request was for something I missed / didn't found in the forum do to that job. thank you for reply [Quote] yes, no issue but I have to pair left-right…

[Quote] This is the portion of the post that got me chasing the XML rabbit hole. I have already solved the "files are hidden by naming convention (preceded with a dot)". That's eas…

After the error occurred, I did make sure that the login that does the backup had read/write permissions on everything, but that fix only lasted for one backup.

I think the bad drive issue may be the problem. I am investigating.

Well, no luck. I may have deleted that email without realising that it might be important to keep it and all I have now is a couple of files: -FreeFileSync_11.20_[Donation_Edition]…

[Quote] Knew it had to be something 'simple'. Thank you for taking the time to help out :)

This seems to work! Thank you for all your replies.

Sounds like a failing storage drive

Thanks, the hint following 'To get started:' did the trick! cheers.. ; )

Copy/paste the sync configuration you saved and set up the new server the same way the old one was

MacOS is dumb so there are two ways it could be. With FFS open, the top bar should have context menus, and one of them might be "Help". Sometimes you click "Help" and there is an u…

Dear Plerry， [Quote] Thank you for your wonderfull idea. I never imagined such a simple solution existed. I will implement it immediately. Thank you very much! Masahiro Fujimoto

I would: - Set up network shares on two of the PCs - Map those network shares on the third PC, we'll call this third one the "main" one - On the main PC, set up FFS to sync two fol…

After checking the FFS rules again, I see that it is not possible to include/exclude as i need it for 1 sync-setup. I'd either need a 2nd setup (with your solution above) or regex …

I googled for GPU hangs, a lot of threads show up which also deal with GPU hangs on the i915 like I have, so it does seem to be a problem with the GPU or driver and not caused by F…

FFS does have a delay for automatic retries if you look at the comparison settings. You found the root issue, the drive is losing connection somehow. Could be a bad USB cable or po…

Thanks for your help. No; I cannot copy or even access files on the other PCs. To keep it simple I am first trying to sync the two laptops. One is Win 10 and the other is Win 11. O…

RTS never ever runs unless you tell it to or set it up to automatically do so. Have you done either of these things?

Thanks again - much appreciated. Happy New Year!

Thanks @Plerry for the swift reply. I figured another way to do it now: duplicate search "by content" and "timestamp". This way I can at least "rule out" files that don't need to b…

Sounds like a bad cable, or damaged USB port on one side or the other, or a failing external drive

FFS stores this type of information in your [URL] file. Potential cause 1): As stated in the linked manual page: "this file is read once when FreeFileSync starts and saved again on…

Thanks Plerry. Perfect solution for me. I figured I was missing something. :)

Brilliant that worked a treat - thank you

@xCSxXenon Thank you (again) for your suggestions. I think I solved it thanks to you. The server log reported "Failed new_session_ticket() on the control socket. Reason: ECONNABORT…

Thanks for that link! I had already followed what it says before my first post but with no success. RTS just sits in windows system tray but nothing happens when changes occur in t…

Pretty common actually. My workplace has created emails and used our own server for client notifications because it means the customer doesn't have to do anything for it to work. T…

My solution achieves the same. Do you read the entire post before responding, or just the first few words?

Check spam/junk Check trash just in case you have a malicious filter set up This hasn't yet been a FFS-side issue, so I wouldn't be worried about encountering it

How did you verify the cause of the crash?

If you want deletions on X to be mirrored to the backups, use "mirror". If not, use "update". Have two folder pairs and have X sync to both A and B directly. Make sure to checkmark…

Folders will always be deleted and recreated but your files themselves are moving fine, based on the top picture.

Great. Thank you!

This error only occurs in tls mode. In plain mode, there is no error any more.

Virustotal found none. [URL] Same result from my Sophos Endpoint with Sophos Intercept X.

Nevermind, it was a dud drive. It didn't work with robocopy or simple copy paste either. Other people have run into the same issue.

I have the same Problem. my FreeFileSync_13.9_[Donation_Edition]_Setup.key is not able to install on Windows 10. What should I do? I want to have a simple solution, because I am no…

Hello I got 'both sides have changed' for two files I tried to sync with Google Drive. I tried deleting the two files on both sides, then uploading them manually to Goog Drive. I g…

[Quote] Thanks, I'll take a look!

My apologies. I guess after years of use I have never seen that message. I should have done a bit more investigating. The message was completely accurate. When i changed one of the…
