Maybe the developer wants to force the dissatisfied users to accept this view, but this will hardly succeed.

Oh I see! Yes, that only leaves the one solution you provided... Hopefully you get something worked out!

That would definitely work! It's simple, even though it's not technically the 'best' since you add another failure point, but that may be acceptable to you!

Do not work.

Yes, you can call the FFS executable with the ffs_batch file as the parameter

Had a quick test with the beta, works like a charm. Definitely improves the usability for me, because I usually have my hands on the keyboard and not on the mouse. Thanks for the f…

Thank you for the suggestion. Yes it is technically doable. Although I would very much prefer not to add more layers of complexity. Adding more scripts adds more places where thing…

First of all, I would like to thank Zenju for such an amazing quality software and extreme responsiveness. A solid action was completely unexpected let alone the timing of it. Awes…

The first error is probably caused by a drive that needs a chkdsk ran on it. It probably needs chkdsk for a reason though, either it wasn't unmounted correctly or it is failing, te…

Zip extraction is part of Windows, no need to buy Winzip. Alternatively there's also 7-Zip: [URL]

That's interesting as I did not create a RTS. Maybe it was due to creating a Task Schedule. I opened 2 windows on the screen, each window being a drive directory (2 different HDDs)…

There is no difference compared to installing the standard version.

I would wager a guess on how the NAS is setup. I think it came up because Linux/ext4 used file IDs that change instead of staying, thus it is a 'different' file.

Before your actual sync, you can look in the Compare result window. After the sync, you can check the log-file. F4 or the icon left below the Compare result Window.

[Quote] What a happy coincidence; I have been thinking about exactly that over the past few days. Thank-you for reading my mind.

Nice! I've partially integrated the patch + added additional fixes for cross-platform compatibility on Windows, macOS, Linux.

The simplest way to correctly add items to your Exclude (or Include) Filter is run a compare in the FFS GUI, select the item and use the context menu (right-click).

Also, nice theming improvements! I guess I use generic themes that have not incurred a need to fix FreeFileSync. Next FreeFileSync version or rebuild (I do that infrequently, betwe…

This only affects the cosmetics. Since the drive doesn't have a letter, it defaults to that ?:\... path. Once it sees the drive, it works normally. There is another thread around h…

[Quote] Indeed this seems to be a bug in [URL] when a panel is floating and only affects GTK (no such issue on Windows/macOS). Maybe this will be fixed with GTK3? (one could hope a…

Why not just wait until the sync is done before updating?

Wow, that was fast! Thanks.

@whalehead99: You say you found a place to set the timeout duration AND the retry count. Could you explain where you found those settings?

I am running FreeFileSync on a Windows 2012 R2 server, with RealTimeSync setup as a batch job in Task Scheduler. The batch job user ONLY has "logon as batch" permissions and not "l…

Any local, external or network disk (in any format) you are able to mount in your MacOS, you should be able to sync when running FFS on your Mac. But, you may need [URL].

Thanks, That was very helpful.

Hi Zenju, I use it with Debian Stable. Is there a Beta version for Linux available ?

Hey. Maybe these suggestions help: 1. Make the icon path relative. Right now this is the icon path: Icon=/usr/share/pixmaps/FreeFileSync.png . We make custom icons for Linux (icon …

Thanks. I answer with much delay since i didn't get notifications by mail. This solution is more complicated because I would have two manage 2 folders. But I understand I have no o…

That can be done in the config settings for the sync itself instead of in the status window

Well, the best way to verify is to install an older version to confirm

Not officially... FFS strips off the "\\?\" prefix. This can be hacked around by putting an additional "\\?\" on the front. FFS also strips the trailing \, but using a subfolder di…

Thanks @Plerry. Exactly what I was looking for.

Hi, sorry for my late reply. Yes, for overwriting, the permission should always be preserved. For new files, the parent folder permission is fine. But, it would be great to be able…

Please ignore that... Just tried a different search query and found the answer. Thanks.
